I just came across this reaction of Dimash. I’ve subscribed and watched all of your reactions of Dimash. He’s the only singer I follow. I found him in 2017 on the Singer competition in China. He came in second. This is a guest performance the year after he was on the show. I know you know the history of Dimash. The Dears are very happy to tell you. His concerts pull people from 60+ countries. His fan clubs are the most loyal fans. The first song I saw him perform was Adagio on the Singer competition. He spoke no English at this time. I was hooked right then. I’m one of Dimash’s older Dears. My wish is to go to one Dimash concert in my life. I would like to adopt him. He’s very close to his family. We all know all about them. He is kind, respectful, humble and generous. After 6years following Dimash, he still surprises me. I’m sure you’re getting many requests..here are a couple. Like in many other arrangements, Dimash melds sacred music traditions of different cultures and ages into something uniquely his own. In this piece, for example, you hear Turkic throat singing - the ancient song of the steppes - creating the foundation while Dimash’s melismas soar high above it. The music of ancient cultures often used chants, overtone singing, and melismatic techniques to induce a hypnotic trance in the listener. Dimash is not only aware of the power of music to alter one’s state of consciousness, he wields this power masterfully but with great respect, like a shaman using his voice, body, and instrumentation to transport the listeners to a higher plane of existence. The inclusion of the traditional Kazakh flute, called a sybyzgy, adds to the tribal vibe of this song. His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and is also steeped in Kazakh folklore. Together they create magic. He sings “I love you” in three different languages: first in English, then twice in Mandarin, “wo ai ni” and at the end, in Kazakh, “men seni suyemin.” What he whispers at the very end is “fei chang gan xie” which is thank you very much in Mandarin.

Wonderful. What a beautiful cover. He even makes the covers he sings his own and brings his own elements to the song that you would never expect. He is so awesome. I grew up with Hello by Lionel Richie. I loved this song. But to be honest, I like Dimash’s version much better. Sorry Lionel. The melismas give me goosebumps without end. At the end he says “I love you” in Mandarin and then in Kazakh. This performance took place in 2018 in the same competition where he appeared in 2017. In 2018 he was a guest. The people in the background were singers and the audience (they are the jury-members). Unfortunately, Lionel Richie banned Dimash from singing the song again and I dont know if that’s still the case today. The flute is called Sygyzgy and is mainly played in the Kyrgyz and Kazakh regions. According to Wikepedia it is traditionally played by shepherd horse herders. A wonderful sound. If you want to see what's better than Dimash, check out his performance from the September 23 Almaty concert. There were about 35.000 people from 68 different countries. It’s his first song in Spanish. That was his first song in Spanish. He wrote this song for his Spanish-speaking Dears (fans). You won't believe me when I tell you, so you just have to see it. I love this cover of Hello. I believe that Dimash nails the feelings of vulnerability, loneliness, and isolation that the lyrics demand. I find the flute very haunting and reminds me of rocky canyons, windswept tundra and other empty seeming places. Jungles are generally too busy and noisy to hear a flute well, in from my experience. At the end of the second verse, Dimash sings "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "Men (I) seni (you) suyemin(love)" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you very much" in Mandarin at the end. Dimash did not sing this song in the competition, he performed it a year later, in 2018, as a special guest lionel richie banned dimash from singing the song again dimash says i love you in kazakh english and chinese mandarin brilliantly replaced the English "I Love You" with the Chinese Wo-Ai-Ni, meaning the same thing. Sybyzgy flute [made of wood 50 cm with 3-7 holes] gives a touch of mystique to the song. Your right it das reminds you on the rainforrest , thank you very much for reacting

This was the year after Dimash was on The Singer show , he was asked back as a guest performer for the 2018 show finale. Towards the end of the video check out the guy in the back room who's wearing the tan jacket with the brown and red shirt . This Jam, the lead singer for the well- known Chinese band called Lion. He and the band competed with Dimash on The Singer in 2017 for the whole season so he heard all 13 of Dimash's performances yet you can totally tell this version of Hello blew his mind!! That's pretty amazing. He and Dimash became good friends during Dimash's stay in China. Thanks for your usual excellent reaction!! 💞

I agree re the re arrangements that Dimash creates, but I also think, that when he sings a cover song, it's his re- phrasing that impacts us most. Because, for me anyway u really get to understand the emotions behind the words. It's like magic. The original was always good but u dont get the same depth of meaning with so many singers. When DQ does a cover, it is OVER. With no disrespect to the original artist intended at all or to his fans, I never liked this song, it left me flat, unmoved, and the vocals were so blah. Don't know if it's true, but I've read that the original artist was unhappy about DQ singing "his" song, and that is why DQ has never sung it again other than this one time - the Dears will know for sure what the truth is. In fact, in his concerts, I've noticed, other than SOS and Autumn, he only does his songs now. He really has no need to cover anymore, his own great repertoire is so vast now! Love this performance. In fact, at his most recent concert held in Malaysia, he wore this jacket again, which I have not seen him wear since this 2018 guest artist performance :). Love the jacket and DQ's version of the song!!
