Save A Prayer, one of the most beautiful and well-crafted songs ever. Many associate John Taylor's great bass playing with Girls On Film and Rio but how JT, on a slow track, sets the pace and walks us through Save A Prayer is pure enchantment. And, in unison with Roger's steady and delicate touch on the drums, the rhythm unit is as usual, amazing! Of course, Nick's arpeggio throughout the track also coincides with JT's bass playing taking us through the journey of the song together. How mesmerizing and captivating is Nick's use of the pitch bender to encapsulate our ears to this wonderful sound? Nick was so creative here. How many songs, great songs, can anyone name using the pitch bender? Not many! What about Andy's synth-guitar cry which evokes the emotion within this track? And finally, Simon's melodies, the chorus, the Dododododododo's and his harmonies- just a fantastic combination that takes Save A Prayer to another stratosphere of songwriting.

Save A Prayer is a vibe and half. Layers and layers of fabulous production going on and it helps to keep in mind that these guys were in their late teens/early 20s creating stuff like this. The entire album is loaded with mood music that hits deep. It's simply one of the greatest albums ever made. Duran Duran are legends. Chameleon legends, every time they pop up you never know what to expect, but it will always be fresh and new and completely DD. As long as we are on the subject of samples, you should react to their song Notorious next. I learned something new from you today. I had NO idea this song had been sampled.

HE-l yea it was, I know it wasn`t cool with the old crowd of my era, BUT the groove was so tight and the knock knock on the beat w/bass that drove me to memories of Stanley Clarke or Jaco Pastorius...Duran Duran not just a look that drove young ladies into paradise, BUT a groove that mesmerizes the soul

Yes many people have sampled Duran Duran, but they wrote it and played it all live in studio, no samples :) I say it but really so many incredible songs in their library of work. They sound as good live as they do in audio too. If you want to hear another song that many sampled it's Notorious.

One of the things people don't realize about 80's New Wave music is how the Synthesizer basically carries the entire melody of the Song which is different to how most Rock songs are written with Guitars & drums being the focus. The opening synth Riff which you recognized is consistent through out the entire song even though it seems to disappear if you aren't paying attention.

Broke up? It was relatively temporary, and all 5 got back together in 2004 and are still making records and touring together in 2023 (aside from Andy, who’s battling cancer right now). And essentially Simon, Nick & John have been together the whole time (brief hiatus for John in late 90s).

It's always been my contention that musicians in the 21st Century would have a rough time of it. There's talent, and then there's Extraordinary Talent. The years between 1950-2000 was in essence lightning caught in a bottle. Who knows when such a thing will ever happen again! It's near impossible not to sample it. Wait until you start listening to stuff by *The Cars,* *Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers* and *The Rolling Stones.* You won't believe your ears...
