@eamonconnelly80293 жыл бұрын
Simon had such a nice and unique singing-voice during back in the day. His vocals are far more exceptional today. His vocal range is a lot more in tune and smoother now when he sings live; it's easier for him to hit some of the high notes he once struggled with. I do miss his harmonies that he mostly did on the first two DD albums.

Save a Prayer is such a beautiful song. It might surprise you that it's about a one night stand, or you may have caught that in the lyrics. Couple of things about this band; the lyrics from their early work is very poetic. As the years have passed, I think the lyrics have become more relatable, but they are still always beautiful or cutting or ...something. They will make you feel stuff if you understand them. You are correct that this song is from the 80s. It's off of the classic album Rio, which was only their second studio album. It is widely regarded as a masterpiece which says a lot about Duran Duran. They were in their early 20s making this music and it still has the same impact 40 years later. DD have gone through many iterations over the years so you will always experience something different with them. They just dropped their latest single last Wednesday off of their 15TH studio album! As usual, it will not sound like something they have done before and the video is cutting edge. Please react to Invisible below!(Also, they will be performing this on the Billboard Music awards tomorrow night)! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX6mlWiwp9h5pqc

Jovaughn I screamed when I saw you were reacting to my absolute favorite band!! This song “Save A Prayer” is about a one night stand. It’s hauntingly beautiful and the entire “Rio” album in my opinion is a masterpiece. I’ve been a fan since “Planet Earth” which came from their first album “Duran Duran”. The band shot this and a few more videos on location in Sri Lanka. The place they were walking to at the end of the video is a sacred place of worship. And if you notice, they weren’t wearing shoes and it was incredibly hot. Hot enough to send them scrambling after the shot! Duran Duran are considered a band from the New Romantic/New Wave music era that was coming out of England in the late 70’s, early 80’s. I honestly don’t believe they have any bad songs but that is just me. I saw them in concert only twice (praying to see them a lot more this year). 2020 was supposed to be their 40th anniversary tour but we all know what happened. Their videos were basically like short films. And they really set the bar high on quality videos. They just released a new song “Invisible” and the video is completely made from Artificial Intelligence! If you have a chance they are supposed to premiere this song at the Billboards Awards Show tomorrow, Sunday May 23th. And a little history on the band, they were heavily influenced by Roxy Music and David Bowie amongst others. Donna Summers song “I Feel Love” inspired Nick Rhodes to learn the piano/synthesizers/keyboards and the like! They sound just like this live! Thank you so much! I instantly was taken back to my 10 year old self. I would recommend “Planet Earth”, “Serious”, “My Antarctica”, “Notorious” and I’m sure you’ll find your way. Thanks again! ❤️

To answer the question about the instrument that one of the members of the band is playing, it's called Sampoña, (samponya) its an instrument that it's originated in Peru, it comes form Incas ancestors, although they use a little distortion, sure they were very experimental back in the day, even today, every song of them tries new instrumental stuff they dont get stuck on one formula, and that over the years made them earn the respect that they have today.

Duran Duran was a huge band in the early '80s'. In fact they came in the wave of the 2nd British Invasion, the first of course with The Beatles, Rolling Stones and many others. Duran Duran could be considered similar to the Beatles from the British Invasion but for the 80's. So this is why you are growing to like them more and more because in deed they were really really great.

Nobody prefetcted the art of sophisticated pop like Duran did. Theyre just extremely classy with everything they do. Plus Simons voice is so underrated. he is a powerhouse vocalist.

Ocarina = instrument. OMG this is my all-time favorite song. I've always wanted this video to be the last thing I see before I die. 😎 I'm dramatic. I've seen them about 20 times live. I think they played this every time. Anyways, they just released a brand new song "Invisible". Everyone go check it out. The video is made by A.I. They'll be performing on the Billboard Awards tomorrow too.

I’d be surprised if it wasn’t the Yamaha DX7 Synthesiser ( which was pretty much the most overused synth of this period) ..on its Ocinara setting.. because there’s pitch bend in that mix there are lots of other arpeggio runs that sound distinctly voiced like an Oberhiem.

There's a duran duran rio documentary that Nick Rhodes shows how to play that opening ocarina sound and he used the synthesizer.

One of the band's most beautiful songs. I remember that even my brother liked this and the video and he was always quite critical when it came to good music. The song 'Wild Boys' on the other hand he thought was terrible.
