EAGLES were one of the greatest bands and great live. Everyone could sing and play multiple instruments and the harmony was perfect. Check out more from this concert “Lyon Eyes”, “Take it to the Limit”, “New Kid in Town..... Also great “I can't tell you why” live studio version

This song is about the influx of people who came to California in the 70's to get famous and they ended up staying. Basically California IS the hotel!! Trust me...there were tons of people looking to get famous back then!! 🎶🎼🎵🎸🎙🥁🎤🎹🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘

I actually appreciate your initial reactions. They were basically on mark. The song is about money, greed, wealth, and he who has the money makes the rules. It's about hedonism, and the hotel represents a pretty picture window to draw you in. They show you pretty things, or things that you think you wanted, but by the time you realize that the window dressing was nothing but a "hellish" trap, you're too far gone. You are too committed, and too used to what this illusion has to offer. Trying to leave is a waste of time..."You can check out any time you want, but you can never leave."
