This song was a response to Dr. Dre’s song “F With Dre Day (and everybody’s celebrating). Dre and Snoop dissed Eazy E, Luke Campbell of 2 Live Crew (who responded with a joint called Cowards In Compton), a NY rapper named Tim Dog (who had a song out called F Compton). Dre/Snoop threw some subliminal jabs at Ice Cube on the song but didn’t mention Cube’s name. The Dre and Eazy beef basically started with Ice Cube. Cube left the group and started a solo career after realizing his contract with the group was sus. NWA dissed Ice Cube on a song called Real Niggaz. Cube responded back with one of the greatest diss tracks in hip hop history...No Vaseline. No Vaseline, basically talked about how only Eazy and Jerry Heller (the owners of Ruthless records) was getting all the 💰 while the rest of the group was getting screwed. It hit so hard that the other members (Dre in particular) had their contracts looked into. Dre decided to leave Ruthless Records to help start Deathrow Records with Suge Knight. After that, the Dr. Dre/Eazy E beef was on. The order of the NWA fall out goes like this... 1. N.W.A. - A message to B.A. / Real Niggaz 2. Ice Cube - No Vaseline 3. Dr. Dre ft Snoop - F**K With Dre Day (and everybody’s celebrating) 4. Eazy E - Real Muthaph**kin G’s

The other two rappers in this are Dresta and BG Knocc Out. They have other content on KZbin where they tell their own stories. But this was part of a long time feud between then Ruthless Records, Easzy-E, Deathrow Records, and Ice Cube. As stated, Dre did F W Dre Day, Eazy did some, and Cube killed em all with No Vaseline. It's an amazing story about the early days of Gangsta rap and when music and real life were the same thing. It would be cool as hell if you guys did a reaction marathon of all the 90s diss tracks in order!

Here's some context for this video. The movie Straight Outta Compton is a good primer, but ultimately that was vanity project for Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. Many people don't realize that there was already a Doctor Dre in the rap world, who was Ed Lover's co-host on Yo MTv Raps, which was the show that was single handedly responsible for bringing Hip Hop to the masses. But anyway let's bring it back to 87. NWA had several underground hits including Boyz in the Hood, Dopeman, and A Bitch is a Bitch. Straight Outta Compton dropped in 88, and Eazy's album Easy Duz It dropped soon after that. After several shows on the road, the group was finally after a contract to sign with the Ruthless label. Ice Cube was the only member that wanted someone to review the details of the contract, which really didn't offer much to the artists. Cube, one of the three major writers (including Red and the DOC), declined and after a short time got a deal with Priority Records. This is when he started his Street Knowledge label. At this point he figured that that would be the end of it. He would make songs on his label while his friends continued to make songs on Ruthless. There's even an interview where he said all that happened was the he caught Eazy and Jerry's hand in the cookie jar, but he would work with them again if the money was right. But then NWA started to make references to "Benedict Arnold", and the bitch Oshea. Cube finally said f*ck it, and delivered the knockout punch No Vaseline. Around this time, Dre finally realized what Cube was saying the whole time. Under Eazy and Heller, he was not making the money that he should be. He teamed up with Suge Knight, founded Death Row, and produced The Chronic. In the song Dre Day, there are disses against many different rappers. There's Luke, Tim Dog, and a throw away line about Cube "Now we going to creep to South Central, on a street knowledge mission as I step through the temple." The Lench Mob made a brief reply on the Menace II Society soundtrack. Fun fact, Ice Cube inspired the titles for two 90s hood movies. The obvious one is Boyz In the Hood, and the other is Menace II Society, which was part of a lyric in A Bitch is a Bitch that Ren used as a hook on his song Ballad of a Menace featuring CPO. Back to the Chronic, the rest of Dre Day was dissing Eazy E. The video features a fake Eazy and Jerry. All of this led up to the song Real Muthaphuckin Gs. It is the response to all of the stuff that Dre said about Eazy in Dre Day. They even used the fake Eazy from Dre Day in the video. In the song Easy makes references to the fact that Dre wasn't completely out of his contract with Ruthless (And I hope that your fans understand when you talk about spraying me/The same record that your making is paying me...Damn E they tried to fade you on Dre Day/But Dre Day only met Eazy's pay day). It makes references to the ridiculous outfits that Dre wore when he was a member of the World Class Wreckin Cru (All of a sudden Dr. Dre is a G Thang, but on his old album cover he was a she thang). It also talks about Dre hitting Dee Barnes from Pump it Up (Beating up a b*tch don't make you sh*t), and how Suge was keeping everyone in line at Death Row (Gotta follow your sergeant's direction, or get your *ss popped with the Smith & Wesson). NY caps were worn by Nutty Blocc Compton Crips , BG Knockout (the mini Eazy lookalike) and Dresta (the big guy with the bat) were affiliated and recently out of jail. Eazy was a Kelly Park Compton Crip. Lots of Crip gangs wore Raiders gear at that time.
