Mr Blue Sky is the world's happiest song by ELO. Jeff Lynne has been at the top of his game, and the music world, since the 70's. Love his stuff, just brilliant.

Jeff Lynne (who comes from my home City of Birmingham, UK) is a fantastic muscian and producer. E.L.O. have loads of great songs and sound just as good live as they do on the studio versions. E.L.O. were still performing just before the pandemic and they are doing their last tour this year. My favourite song is 'All Over The World' which is a very happy song which you should listen to. He was also part of the super group 'The Traveling Wilburys' with George Harrison (The Beatles), Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. You should listen to their 'End of the Line' and 'Handle with Care' if you have not done so.

True music lovers understand and appreciate what an amazing artist, performer, writer and producer this man is. Most of the world will wake up to his contribution to music too late. Personally I rate him alongside Lennon, Harrison, Elton John and The Rolling Stones, he will go down as one of the all time greatest, in my book he already is.

OMG - its difficult not to get tearful, seeing that live performance, and then your personal story on top... ELO was one of the best bands and live acts of the 70s, and they have literally tons of brilliant songs... where to start?! I just pick three.. 'Can't get it out of my head', 'Mr Blue Sky' and 'Roll over Beethoven', and now that you started that rabbit hole with live versions, you might as well continue - any live concerts, maybe try a different one... and be assured: you can't get it wrong! 🌈

Jeff Lynne, the lead singer and founder of ELO was 76yrs old when this concert was broadcast in the U.K. during 2017, and his voice has the exact same tenor as when ELO started back in 1970. It's worth watching the full concert in order to "feel" ELO.

Electric Light Orchestra... The only musical artists that i would pay to see live in concert... I grew up listening to ELO from the early 1970's... And they still put many of the more modern day artists to shame... They can all sing and play live... And have a proven track record of producing incredible music... They were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017... And their music has been sampled many times by various artists... Also their music has appeared in several Hollywood Movies... Although sadly... There are rumors that 2024 will be their final year of touring... But thankfully we'll always have their wonderful music to listen to. 👍

As a contrast, listen to "Mr Blue Sky". Always makes me smile. A few more you may consider listening to: The Diary of Horace Wimp, Turn to Stone, Rockaria, Wild West Hero, Livin' Thing, Sweet Talking Woman, Roll Over Beethoven, Confusion. Just for your info, Jeff Lynne was also a member of the Travelling Willburies, an Anglo-American "supergroup" which boasted the likes of Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan in the line-up. ELO was formed in Birmingham UK and of course Jeff is a Brummie from my neck of the woods

This took me right back to my childhood and the first time I heard this track. I got introduced to ELO in the 70's by my Uncle. My Nan used to have a 'music room' in her house. It had a piano, clarinet, recorder, two broken acoustic guitars and a Ferguson Music Center with speakers. It used to be cold as hell until the LPG Calor Gas stove got things warmed up a little!! Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻🙏🏻❤

ELO really got a second wind when they performed in front of an enthusiastic 50,000 crowd in Hyde Park, London - an event organised by British DJ, TV presenter and entrepreneur, Chris Evans. Apparently Jeff Lynne was blown away by the size and enthusiasm of the audience and seems likely to have motivated them to do two or three more tours since, including their Birth America "Farewell" tour that has just finished. R I P. Richard Tandy.

Great reaction to ELO's "Telephone Line" RNTV. Of course, their biggest hit was "Don't Bring Me Down" released in 1979. But for me, my favourite ELO song has got to be "Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue Sky (Official Video). Released in 1978 as part of their album "Out of the Blue" and written and produced by Jeff Lynne. This was a massive hit for ELO due to it's unique melody and light-hearted lyrics. Look forward to your next video Mike and Jess. 🙂

What a great reaction from both of you to some great music. The whole concert from which that track was taken is available and I watched my DVD copy last night - sensational performance by Jeff and his supporting cast. As has already been said, Jeff's songwriting is under rated and the musicianship of their live performances is superb. Recommend you watch more of that gig - lots of audience reactions to enjoy!
@suzannebaxter28886 минут бұрын
ELO is my absolute favourite group to put on when I start my spring clean. I have them on repeat. Jeff Lynne was also a member of the Traveling Wilbury's which was a British-American supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. He's wrote music for The Beatles. Tom Petty's greatest songs I won't back down and Free Falling were written together with Jeff. I could go on and on but ultimately they were a phenomenal band and one of the members was Roy Wood who went on to form Wizard. One of the biggest reasons these groups are still as popular today as in the past is because they sound the same live as they do on record. There was no auto tune there was no backing tracks you had to play an instrument and back then you could go see a concert for about £20 .
@johnvangelis484Сағат бұрын
This is by far the best iteration of ELO since its original line up. Sadley Richard Tandy (the voice of Mr Blue Sky) wasn't at this gig. Jeff wished him well and said he hoped he would be back for the next outing of ELO. Richard Passed and is and will always that wonderful vocoder voice of Mr Blue Sky. Out of the Blue was the first album I ever bought ..... I must confess I never knew until sometime later that the ELO ship is based in the Whirlizter Jukebox. Livin Thing, Rockaria, Wild West Hero, oh heck just do the whole concert, I have it on DVD and ELO and Dire Straits to this day are in my top 5 bands, so you have been hitting the spot with your reaction videos, I even saw Lee Evans live in Brighton.

Jeff Lynne - a wonderfully talented multi-instrumentalist, writer, and producer. A musical genius. So much so that when the Beatles wanted to release a new record and all they had was a crackly old demo casette from John it was Jeff they asked to do the production on it. That song was Free as a Bird - a song with all 4 Beatles singing and playing on it long after one of them had passed. The ELO back catalogue is huge, you'll have a very happy journey wandering through it.

But back then they were very popular and had lots of hits....

Hope you get chance to review it x

Great Video reaction. Have most of ELO music. Go back and listen to them Live at Hyde Park, with some really upbeat songs, Mr Blue sky, All around the world, and many, many more. Hyde Park was something Jeff Lynne was not sure of doing, as it had been 30 years since doing a festival event, but it turned out great, and with that he wrote a brand-new album the following year.
