Teresa, from someone hit hard financially by Covid and not able to become a Patreon, I want to thank you for being a Patreon and suggesting ELO to this young man. You made a stellar first song choice! Not only is ELO my favorite band, but "Evil Woman" is my favorite song by them! And while I do generally prefer that reactors listen to the studio version of a song before hearing it love, this song is one of the exceptions to that rule, because A) it's such an amazing performance, and B) because the visual aspect of seeing the band live I think goes a long way towards hooking a younger person. And that's the most important thing, to hook them on the band right from the start so they're eager to explore its rabbit hole. Well done, my dear. :)

Teresa, Jeff was born in December 1947, and is actually 73. Doesn't look it, though. He started his first band, Rockin' Hellcats/Andicaps in '63, and had his first single, with the Idle Race, in 1967, before he turned 20. Oh, I just realised you may have meant he was almost 70 at the time.

ELO was my first live concert at the age of 11. They had a giant flying saucer as a stage and there was a top part that lifted up with hydraulics and stayed floating in the air through the duration of the concert. They are 70s classic rock in time period for the most part. They are their own damn genre. 😁 Rock had utilized orchestras and classical arrangement prior to them, but there was never a band before them that had strings as an integral part of the band. You need to check out so much from these guys. They were a hit machine. Telephone Line, Mr. Blue Sky, Tightrope, and let's see how brave you are: Fire on High, audio. If I had to peg them as anything, I'd say closer to progressive rock.

One with good horns and its earlier sound is kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYO3foqwi9SHlbc Chicago had so many hits that what I remember most is their "sound." Thanks much, Rad -- as perhaps noted below "ELO" stands for "Electric Light Orchestra" - and is pronounced "EE - ELL - OH" lol -- Jeff Lynne is a founding member, and over the years, they have had numerous musicians play with them - Jeff is, in my opinion, very underrated as a singer AND songwriter -- ELO have many, many hits -- I'm old now, so the first one I remember when I was young was "Telephone Line" -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWi1Yoqma76Sa7s -- but Jeff was also part of the amazing "super-group" The Traveling Wilbury's -- which was formed largely by George Harrison - to help boost Roy Orbison's career toward the end of his life -- so Wilburys were: Roy, George, Jeff, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan - and they actually did a couple of albums and toured briefly before Roy passed away -- I think you would like them - check out this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6CXpGSBi6-UjKM (there are many more by them - especially a very emotional one that features Roy... but I'll leave it to you to investigate if you have time and inclination) --

Jeff Lynn, the guy doing vocals, was one of the members of a Supergroup formed in 1988 called "The Traveling Wilburys", consisting of 5 mega stars, Jeff (ELO), George Harrison (from the Beatles), Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. They made 2 albums, the second completed after Roy Orbison died. "Handle With Care" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6CXpGSBi6-UjKM and "End Of The Line" kzbin.info/www/bejne/i365m4eljrSdmK8 which shows Roy's guitar in a rocking chair, and a shot of his picture in the video. Both should be checked out.

Interesting! How did they do as a group?
@musicluvr703 жыл бұрын
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert, Not too bad. Their first album went triple Platinum and won a Grammy for best new group. The second album released after Orbison's death did good, but not as well as the first. The careers of Petty and Dylan were revitalized and they seemed more interested in that than doing more with the group, and they didn't do anything together after 1990. I think they would have done a lot better had they done this 20 years earlier. Too many young people didn't really know who they were. I remember one younger fella saying "Wow these guys are pretty good for old dudes". LOL He had no idea who he was talking about. Now 3 of them are dead, and Dylan will be 80 this month. I never cared for Dylan's singing, even though he was a great song writer. That leaves Jeff Lynne of ELO.

So glad you've discovered one of my all-time favourite bands but just a couple of tips: the group is not called "eel-o" but E.L.O. which is the acronym for their full name, Electric Light Orchestra. And you missed the beginning first chorus of "evil woman..." because your first pause cut off the word "evil". Please don't take this as criticism, just a suggestion that when you pause, you go back a few seconds before starting again so that you don't miss any lyrics or musical transitions. Cheers!

Led Zeppelin- live versions from the TSRTS concert, ('Dazed and Confused', and 'Stairway to Heaven'), ELO- 'Livin' Thing', and 'Tightrope'. Yes- 'Wonderous Stories', 'Awaken', and 'I've Seen all Good People'. I can't stop! Joao and Astrud Gilberto- 'The girl from Ipanema'.
