For sure, Eminem has grown tremendously over the 25+ years he's dedicated to his career. I would like to say though that I am unsure how much of the growth BJ was talking about at the end of the video is actual growth, and how much of it was due to a different persona. What I mean is that his 'Slim Shady' persona/alter ego produced Kim (among others) where he talked about killing her and throwing her in the trunk of his car, and so on, while Mockingbird was produced (I believe) by his real self-the Marshall Mathers persona. Was/Has Marshall Mathers always been this down-to-earth emotional guy that we see here and in other songs like When I'm Gone and Marshall Mathers? I can't answer that, only he can, really. Incidentally, his 3rd persona, that of Eminem, is in my mind the bridge between the two other sides-willing to say what needs to be said, not caring how it is said, but not going super dark and crazy with it either.

Dr. Dre was searching for a partener and he was listening to any tapes of freestyle battles, and he popped one that was actually Eminem's tape, he's got it from an internet that saw Em performing at a freestyle battle, he meet Eminem and he didnt even knew he's white, and eminem was in a full bright orange outfit. And actually, when Eminem went to meet Dr.Dre they couldnt make it work immediatly, they had to wait about 2 months to sign Eminem, but Dr.Dre told everyone to sign him immediatly, but it was hard because everyone was pressuring Dr.Dre to make it big or there would be consequences, Eminem went back home thinking he's not gonna make it, then later Dr.Dre just said "fuck it" and bet it all on Eminem, and they made it big. And when Dr.Dre heard Em rapping over his sample he knew immediatly he's special, Em started spitting from nowhere and Dr.Dre knew he's what he needs. As Dr.Dre said he needed a partener and Eminem for him was like a start over, like a new era or smth.

Yeah Eminem really has grown as an artist and a person really show in his music hardcore his old stuff is great still but man his composing skills are crazy for no formal education he is nuts. Real old song for reaction lol a good one he's got new stuff still, Eminem and Danni Filth such wordsmiths and crazy essay-like poems is just crazy to me. You always see the softer side what are you listening to lol he grew up at the same time as me he is gen x when the gothic culture was super mainstream Tim Burton, Cradle of Filth/ black metal days so his lyrics are similar to that time frame as that is what was popular. Also, he was a horrorcore artist who always was so to make you feel negative emotions so you gain empathy for the victims just by saying how you listen to horrorcore and all gothic music.
