This is the first Eminem song I was ever introduced to when this album came out. I was a freshman in hgih school and my buddy had it. I thought this dude sounded corny af and had a weird ass voice. Heard one more song and forgot all that shit. The rest is literally history for me. I was lucky enough to be at the right age to follow his whole journey and live what he said. I grew up with Em. My mom found out I had his album and cut all my cds in half. Thats how much parents hated him back then.

Had the opposite happen when I first heard Eminem in High School. I still remember this girl in class was listening to him on her Walkman and I kept bugging her to listen and I instantly became a fan after the first listen.

I was introduced right after The Eminem Show dropped (it dropped 5 days before my 12th birthday). I wasn’t allowed to have explicit music, but my friend, Kisha, would burn CD’s for me if I gave her a blank disc. My burned copy of The Eminem Show was my most prized possession and I did not want my music privileges fucked with, so I decorated that CD case as girly and cute and pink and purple as I could and wrote “Summer ‘02 Pop Hits” on it so my parents would never be suss. I’m 33 and I actually just told my mum the other day and we laughed about it 😂

Im from eastern europe and let me tell you, even 10yo kids had explicit versions of Em albums. During that time there was 0 censhorship around here...was sort of a wild west. You could see people talkin shit on live TV on top of commercials for booze, gambling and prostitution lol!

She said she felt sh*tty. I told her to trying eating a bit and then sleeping it off if possible. Her head started hurting, she eventually fell asleep and when she woke up she felt a lil better but not completely. Since then she has enjoyed edibles safely and in a responsible manner.
