I think the friend part is mostly due to them being swedish, here the word can sometimes have a slightly different mening, it means something like lover that is also very close to my heart. But if I’m being honest I think this song is mostly about Joey trying to get out of a ”situation”… there are lots of girls in the world when you look and sing like that😆

Oh yes, school dance in late 80's, slow dance with a girl in a dim gymnastic hall. One of the rare moments you got so close with a girl as young teenager. Definitely nostalgic.

Europe are still recording albums & touring regularly, I've seen them many times. Carrie is not representative of the band's music, it's a great song but was taken from The Final Countdown album which was a rather commercial keyboards album & perhaps a bit poppy. They are a proper rock band & made many super albums & are amazing on stage.

OMG I was such a Joey Tempest fangirl back in the day! 😍😍😍 Europe were a great rock band that were overshadowed by Bon Jovi. They had a friendly rivalry I believe. 'The Final Countdown' was their biggest hit (what a banger!!!) but they had other good tracks too. This is one of my favourite songs by them. I used to have a vhs tape of theirs with the video for this, The Final Countdown,and Rock the Night on there. It was a prized possession and died from overplaying 🤣🤣🤣 You're right, they just don't make 'em like they used to.

Só um detalhe, lembrei de uma coisa quando vi o guitarrista kee Marcelo. Aquela guitarra foi parar na mão do Tommy Johansson, que legal isso ter acontecido, foi parar em ótimas mãos. De um guitarrista pra outro. Outra voz que eu amava era do JOEY, muito límpida e clara e melodiosa. Que pena que ele perdeu aquele alcance que tinha, mas hoje ele ainda canta muito bem.💯😎👍🎤

Given you a like!! becaouse you have notice the extremely amazing voice of joey tempest ..he has a perfecgly tuned tenor voice and for me the most warm and sweet voice of de 80s rock band...im fan since those days..now in my 60's im so sad becaouse the horrible music of the last years...great that you have notice how good they were an are..they are still making music and doing concerts ..the lastes albums were nomination to a grammys !! But the music industry is now in evil plan ( like doing satanic rituals on music awards) and doesnt promote classic rock like they should...you maybe should try todays albums..like last look at eden or walk the earth...amazing and most hard rock than in the 80s...you will enjoy it!!!
