What an unbelievable ARTIST she was, died of cancer at the age of 36yrs old, she always loved playing small intimate gigs, she never wanted the big bucks or the fame, she sang FIELDS OF GOLD by STING and STING was in the audience, he was absolutely blown away, all her covers are just next level 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🔥👌❤️.

he was never in the audience when she sang. she was unknown outside of the DC area at the time of her passing. he heard it later on but she passed away years before he heard it. Tazz, Bridge Over Troubled Water is another great one by her at her Blue Alley concert.

Eva used a multi track studio to deliver the background vocals in this song , so Eva singing with Eva..........cool! Chain of Fools is another song in this neighborhood, or Nightbird for something a bit different. I don't remember which version of the song I heard first, Ella Fitzgerald's or Frank Sinatra's, but a lot of great musicians have interpreted the song since the 1940s. All I remembered about Eva Cassidy were her beautiful interpretations of ballads, but this reaction showed me that her version of the song really doesn't have to hide, even if it reveals small weaknesses.

@@tazzznphilly As I have already mentioned, the version has exceptional qualities and you can see Eva's enormous talent and also the experience that can only come from regular live singing. I was also amazed at how she can express the blues in the high registers. After your reaction, I listened to Ella Fitzgerald's version again after a long time. In a direct comparison, I noticed how strong Ella is in the middle registers and that, as a blues/soul/jazz singer, she can interpret the blues particularly intensively through her phrasing. I also don't know whether I used the term "weakness" correctly. The version has no flaws and Eva was able to interpret Fields Of Gold in a way that I don't think Ella could have achieved in that musical area. For the blues she doesn't quite have the timbre, the special vibrato and the little bit of wickedness (I hope this is the right term) of a Fitzgerald. It would have been easier for me in German.
