Love The Everly Brothers harmonies. They started out when they were really young in the 50's-60's. They influenced a lot of the groups that came after them. They had so many hits such as "Bye Bye Love", "Wake Up Little Susie", "All I Have To Do Is Dream", "Problems", "Cathy's Clown", "Bird Dog", "So Sad (To Watch Good Love Go Bad)", "Walk Right Back", "Crying in the Rain" etc. Sadly neither of them is alive now. But they left a great legacy of music.

I hear them say, "gee whiz" and I can't help but smile. Today we would hear, gdzme@#$%a and a thousand curse words and vulgarity. Such a more gentle time back then. I miss those days.

"All I Have to Do Is Dream" was a #1 record in1958, when the boys were 21 (Don) and 19 (Phil). "Cathy's Clown" was a #1 hit two years later when this was likely filmed.

I am now 48 years old. The Everly Brothers was my first concert I ever went to, when I was an adolescent. I went with my Mom, Dad, Aunt and Uncle. I was the youngest person at the concert. At the time, I didn't really want to go bc I thought it was for "old people". But I'm sooo glad I went, not only bc it was a great concert. But bc NOW I understand what legends they were and I feel so blessed to have experienced that. ❤️

They were experts in that sliding harmony, difficult to do when two people are doing exactly together. These two guys influenced many groups that came after them including the beatles. Another nugget is the group backing them was the former Buddy Holly band after he was killed in that plane crash.

The harmonies of the Everly Brothers were incredible. They were one of the big influences for the harmonies of the Beatles. In fact, they did several covers of Everly Brothers' songs in their early days.

The Everly Brothers started out at age 17 or so in the mid 1950s, when Rock and Roll was born. Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holley, and these guys were tthe pioneers of this new music genre called Rock and Roll.

Their harmonies are unbelievable. My Mom used to play their records on Saturdays while we would clean house. My sister and I would harmonize and sing along, just like we did in church to Gospel songs. Great memories. Love this reaction.

Thank you for reacting to these two brothers! Classic classic classic. I remember hearing that the Beatles modeled of themselves after the Everly Brothers and at one point they called them selves the new Everly brothers, but I’m not sure about that! Thanks again!

These guys were SO popular when I was just a little girl (a VERY long time ago)… such talent. I remember this song and Cathy’s Clown both.. listening to them on my transistor radio in the late 50s/early 60s. Thanks for your reaction, and for the trip down memory lane!

I loved seeing your reaction, Da Real Adogg. The Everlys were the best!! Impeccable harmonies and total professionalism. Don was born in February 1937 and Phil in January 1939 and they were performing from the time they were 6 and 8 years old. They appeared regularly on their parents’ radio show on KMA Radio in Shenandoah, Iowa. Don wrote the song “Cathy’s Clown” in addition to a few others that the Everlys recorded. In the early days, the brothers recorded a lot of songs written by the husband and wife songwriting team of Felice and Boudleaux Bryant.

Huge influence on Lennon and McCartney and, slightly later, Harrison. John being right handed and Paul left handed meant they could get their voices and ears very close while guitars pointed opposite directions. They could practice harmonies in certain bus stops and other places that helped echo

Don born 1937, Phil born 1939. Don (darker hair) was older. So in 1960 they were approximately 23 and 21 when Cathy's Clown was released...... around the time of this performance. Sadly, both brothers have died. Thank you for reacting to them. They had a lot of hits.
