No joke. The ONLY time I've ever feared for my safety at a show was at Exodus. Seen Slayer, Sepultura, Testament, Nuclear Assault, even heavier bands like Nile and Lamb of God, but only Exodus ever made me go: "...So this is how I'm going to die!"

@@shanebrown4146 I saw Pantera once but it was at an Ozzfest show back in 97. I was in the area closer to the stage with seats. There was the non-seat area behind me and I remember watching people go so insane I remember saying "Glad I'm on this side!" I mean even in the seats people were going nuts, but unrestrained it looked like a goddamned riot.

@@shanebrown4146 Nice. Yeah, Massachusetts is where I saw that. Drain STH was great and Fear Factory I knew about as I had the Demanufacture album but seeing them live was a whole different story.

Exodus is the shit. There is not many bans that can match the intensity of these thrash legends. One of the best pure metal bands ever. 11 albums in and not a fuckin ballad to be heard.

Exodus is one of the Thrash metal pioneers (This is the band that Kirk Hammett started before moving onto Metallica) - Exodus is also from the Bay Area (where most people say thrash metal was started) - One of their guitarists, Gary Holt, also a founding member, played with Slayer for 10 years until they retired 2 years ago - he is now back with Exodus - they are currently touring with Testament and Death Angel - 2 other thrash metal pioneers

I saw these guys around 1990 at the Trocadero in Philly. I was in the mosh pit when this song came up and the crowd rushed the stage collapsing the pit. I wound up pushed toward the stage until everyone was packed so tight we could go no further. At that point I was pushed barely past the 1 step down the floor had and both feet were planted on the down step. Because it was so compacted it was kind of like a spring.. Everyone started pushing back to get room and it was so tight I couldn't move my feet so I was pushed over. Needless to say I had 10 to 20 people piled on top of me "like a dog pile". They started pulling people up but the pit opened up almost immediately while I was at the bottom. A couple of skin heads started they're kicking mosh and I saw them coming.. I really didn't want to get kicked in the face so as soon as one got close enough I reached up and pulled the 1st guy down.. The second guy came a moment later and I did the same thing!! LOL! Eventually I did get pulled up. It was a good show and I had a lot of fun.. Even talked a bunch of guys into making a stage dive line where a bunch of us went for the stage dive trying to get around security. I actually made it on stage for about 4 steps "I ran then did like a high jump dive back in the crowd before being caught!". It was a blast!

Exodus has recently released a new album after a bit of a hiatus, I think it's been since 2014 since their last album, because their stalwart guitarist, Gary Holt, was filling in for Slayer after Jeff Hanneman passed away. But out of the 5 original members of the band, Steve Souza, Gary Holt, Tom Hunting, Rick Hunolt, and Rob McKillop, those first three are still with the band. However, Steve's only been back with them for the last 2 albums, while Rob Dukes sang for them on the previous 4 albums, including a re-recorded version of the 1985 debut album in 2008. I didn't know this but their current bass player, Jack Gibson has been with them since 1997 even before they made their 2000s comeback after the 90s hiatus. And speaking of which, you'll find that many 80s bands, took a long hiatus in the 90s as Thrash fell out of favor with the world for about 10 years from like 1994 to 2004, give or take a few bands... Thank God for the Metal and Thrash revival in the mid 2000s.

I'm so glad this video is finally making the rounds. You hear the term in the big four brandied around all the time but in truth, Exodus deserves to be up there with those bands. There should have been a big 5, as these guys are every bit the thrash innovators that Slayer Metallica Megadeth and Anthrax were. One of the coolest shows I ever saw back-in-the-day was Exodus opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Oakland California, I was a crazy crazy show. Now I'm not saying these shows weren't violent, and there were injuries etcetera but there was a real feeling of unity at this time, the thrash scene United the punk and metal audience in a way that had never been done quite as honestly before. And when you were in the pit and you fell down people picked you up, if you got hurt people looked after you, it all went to hell about two years after this when all the nimrods who had no clue suddenly started showing up at shows and wanted to hurt people. Interesting that happened around the time of The Black Album. Truly was a very exciting time to be a fan of what was then considered very extreme music. Highly recommended, voivod, Overkill, Death Angel, Celtic Frost, and of course the almighty Whiplash. Can't go wrong with any of those 80s era bands
