It depends. If you're into the vocal-oriented group, then EXO is the one. They're vocal kings and are very well known for their brilliant live performances. Even the rappers are vocalists. If you're into more rap songs, EXO's not for you. There, i made it easier for you. EXO lean more towards R&B. EXO Fandom is not "obsessive" like certain other fandoms. We don't stream for numbers. As EXO does not promote in the West like other k-pop groups & has been in the military since 2019-2025. The GRP itself is the richest in terms of worth "$1 billion" compared to BTS $150 million, Blackpink $130million because of the extensive discography; endorsements, covers etc. They are a powerhouse. So no need to convert. We are just sad we will not see them live in concert of which they still hold the record for 0.2secs sold out. I feel like big bang exo and SHINee got lucky with fans. Most people are pretty supportive and kind. I also love super junior and tvxq but their fans be nuts sometimes Exo is one of the only groups with large amounts of talented people. EXO is not the quintessential Kpop group even though they pioneered a lot of trends in the industry and they are known as the idols of the Kpop idols. This group is deemed as having the most diverse discography aside from being the Vocal Kings. So if you're used to Kpop songs that are rap centered or cutesy, EXO is not for you as they value VOCALS and music quality more than anything.

EXO IS THE QUINTESSENTIAL Kpop group, they are the epitome, the representative, the nation’s choice, the ultimate sound of kpop. Thank you for the reaction, do not worry too much about the reactions I watch many on yt and I believe EXO-LS are very respectful and we appreciate honesty. I think you might enjoy "Tempo", it is a fan favorite and the acapella really sets it apart from other kpop songs. For b-sides "Damage" i would say is a bit more rap focused. But overall they are more of a vocal group with heavy RnB sound. Also "Fall" is one of the songs from the Christmas albums they have that is really melodic and beautiful.

I mean it all depends on you, if you like groups or artists with quality discographies and good vocals then EXO is for you. If you like current kpop with 2 minute songs, more music than vocals or a lot of rap, then they are not for you. EXO is a kpop group but of excellence, they have been named the vocal kings of kpop, they have an incredible discography very based on R&B with mixtures of other genres. They are all very good singers, yes, they stand out in areas such as rap and dance ( Kai has been a dancer since he was a child) but as singers, all 9 of them are incredible vocalists. So yes, it all depends on your taste, anyway you are welcome to listen to more EXO songs and let yourself be carried away by the talent.

Obsession album is a concept album. I was surprised the lyrics were not on thereby recognizing that the "I don't think so" are the words the person hears. The obsession with themselves (good vs bad in themselves) at the end. The B sides are even better at exploring the dark sides of obsession in particular Jeykyll.

I can see how would be abit of a hard song to digest. It definitely not what fans usually recommend first 😂. Usually it's Love Shot or Monster, or maybe Love Me Right. EXO has been around for so long that they made their way through quite a few genres of music. Though they are definitely more of a group that focuses on singing (so much so that their rappers have also been trained to sing) I don't think they have problems getting it done. Thank you for your honest reaction for Exo. As per observation of your reaction your more on the rapping side and it's fine because as you've said earlier you love hip-hop. Exo have diverse discography and they already built their name in this industry. So it's no big deal if you prefer other group than Exo since Exo is more in RnB and vocals. thank you for reaction! don't worry, not every group is for everyone, and even if a group is popular, it doesn't mean every person would like their songs. If you still want to check out more, I would probably recommend "wolf" or "overdose", but EXO is very vocally oriented, they have the strongest vocal line in kpop. If you want more rap, I recommend a kpop group Stray Kids. I think they are the most rap-heavy kpop group I know of, and they are very popular now. you could start with "topline" (more hip-hop song, from June 2023) or "lalalala" (their latest title track from 3 weeks ago). and they have the best music videos in the industry - you will see it with "lalalala" :)

It's always interesting to see what songs folks start with when looking at new groups. Obsession is a really good song, but not really typical of EXO. I would suggest you give the group another listen and check out Monster, or Tempo. I suggest Monster because it is the song that made me really like the group. Tempo is a really interesting song that shows off how impressive the group is vocally. K-pop fandoms can be difficult at times, but honesty is important in reaction videos. I have seen fans get upset when they feel someone has disrespected a group by making assumptions that are wrong or judging the groups abilities based on one song. Just stay away from those things.

Tempo was gold....that songs just everything you want in an rnb song. I like lucky one but its very poppy. I saw u did a solo song so you should look st Lay - Lit if you havent yet. Hes from exo and currently the most profit making person in china. He is a dancer singer rapper producer...he directed his own video. He didnt stand out un exo much but hes really blown up since he started his own production company Also its one of the best videos i have ever seen. I like d.o. voice the most but hoppefully leaving sm he will do more rnb festures on rappers albums. I also suggest watching exo live also since they can actually sing

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, Chen uses his ability to control electricity (because he has the power of thunder and lightning) to manipulate something to do with the TVs that are playing behind him and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. At the very end you see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO, you need to be aware that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it's how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So, to really understand their full origin story, you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group -- short answer to focus on their solo work back in China -- but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin, they just now promote all as one group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. So, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop, and it has made us question everything we previously have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. On the surface level one interpretation of the lyrics could be that it's talking about obsessed fans. But EXO songs never have only one meaning. If you delve in deeper, it's actually talking about society in general and people's greed for material goods, money, fame, etc. All the things that people can become obsessed with that aren't what they truly need. With EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force is controlling humanity by preying on our gluttonous greed for all things material, and making us forget about showing each other love and compassion and respect, etc. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession," some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO, and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovered that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. And we now think it is linked to EXO's new "Let Me In" MV, where we see a meteor on a collision course for Earth and EXO are trying to figure out how to prevent it from destroying the world. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those all-black outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs, which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. Therefore, it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, Baekhyun and Kai have gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force, and maybe, eventually, take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light. 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt), which gives him super strength/force. ☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation (Kai means opening as in a door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to symbolize his role in the group.) 🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind. EXO-M ❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost). 🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything. 🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity. Actually, I think majority kpop fans in general fine with honest reaction and the dislike for personal taste, as long as it's respectfull I'm a kpop casual listener for some kpop group anyway, not focus on 1 group nor getting deep on any of them, well I quite did for 1 group, but not anymore now 😅 For EXO, I want to know your take on their older music, if you want to do more, I recommend you to EXO - MAMA, it was from 10 years ago, and the style quite different from this one And for other groups if you want to try, I have another group suggestion too Bigbang - Still Life ATEEZ - Wonderland TXT - 'Frost' Special Performance Video (this one is a studio record of the full visual and choreography display, not like live or stage performance, I think the MV is totally ruin the vibes of the song, does'nt match at all, so I'll only suggest the special performance video for this one 😅) All that I suggest here is very different from each other and from the one you already react, but I recommend you to 'Still Life' the most

Obsession is one of my least fav too 😂 i mean it took me like 2 yrs to get used to it. Maybe try their killing voice performance which has little snippets of their songs (you'll see how versatile they are) Or wolf exordium live pedformance. I would like to see another exo reaction from you cuz exo is that one group who literally has a 10 yr old christmas song on top of the charts during december (first snow is the kpop ver of all i want for christmas 😂)

As an Exo-l I also agree that the “ I don’t think so” part was too much. I didn’t love that. I think you would much prefer other songs. I also appreciate your honest reaction! I’ll subscribe!

I love EXO but this song isn’t one of my personal favourites. Like others have said it depends on your music tastes 💁🏼‍♀️ EXO are known as the Vocal Kings of K-pop & have a very diverse discography but if you are strictly into rap then maybe you won’t like them as much. They aren’t very similar to JayZ for example 😂 I’m not a huge rap fan but I listen to Stray Kids when I feel like more rap (particularly their sub-unit 3racha)
