And YES, you should definitely check out more Sonic music, the storylines are way beyond just bouncing on robots. Sonic Frontiers is the first open-world game, it's like a Sonic version of Breath of the Wild almost - and it's written by a lifelong fan, who's writing for other adult fans who grew up with it. Even blue, happy Sonic occasionally finds something he has to fight for all-out.

Oh this music ABSOLUTELY fits Sonic. There's some constraints to this, not just ANYTHING works, but generally speaking, Sonic operates on "the rule of cool". If it makes Sonic cooler, then the better takes on the series and character are open to doing it. HENCE, Sonic fighting giant colossus sized mechs in the most Shounen anime (think HunterxHunter or Jujutsu Kaisen) way possible while music like this plays in the background. You've gotta understand, Sonic is only superficially like Mario in some ways. He's not just "silly little videogame guy" like a lot of platforming mascots are. He also IS THAT, but Sonic is gaming's Dragonball. There's definitely some silly ideas and characters, but it's absolutely capable of ratcheting up the tension and seriousness of things. It's cool before it's anything else. From the outside, yeah, I imagine hearing this in Sonic must be like hearing Pantera in Mario, but if you get pretty familiar with the series, this is just a natural continuation of Sonic's early to mid 2000s music.

So basically, for gameplay context, Frontiers is basically like Breath of the Wild, an open world you run around in and complete puzzles, mixed with classic Sonic gameplay (speeding through levels with boosting, spin dash, loops, grind rails, bounce pads, etc.) with a dash of Shadow of the Colossus and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance for the bosses and a combat system that feels very Devil May Cry-ish with combos and different moves. As for the song, the rapper on this track is Tyler Smyth from the band Dangerkids (who previously did a song for the previous Sonic game, Forces, called Infinite) while the chorus singer is the same as Undefeatable (and the other song you haven't heard yet, Break Through It All), Kellin Quinn from the band Sleeping With Sirens. I would recommend using the lyric videos published by Yesman10 as they are super well edited and feature gameplay footage. Frontiers has a crazy wide-ranging soundtrack. Everything from somber orchestral pieces, highly energetic drum and bass and trance, to heavy metal boss songs.

I'm just saying Sonic didn't just recently jump the shark he's been battling gods, aliens, government experiments, etc for a long time. The Sonic Series has flirted with a more action/adventure/shonen vibe since 1998 (And arguable Sonic 3 and Knuckles despite the still flashy poppy sprite work.)

You kinda had to be there, but this style of music is absolutely on point for the fandom when it was really growing in the mid-2000s. Sonic was always marketed with themes of teen angst and rebellion, not to mention the Archie Comics series creating lots of worldbuilding and drama. Its fandom was overlapping with the realm of shounen anime which, during the early pioneer years of KZbin itself, was known for music videos featuring emo and punk bands. (Naruto Linkin Park AMVs everywhere) Plus, the games themselves have featured bands like Zebrahead, Crush 40, Bowling For Soup, and more recently Dangerkids.

Alright Luke, glad to see you back here, that's the second part of the trinity achieved! One to go! Now, if you are still hesitating about whether to play the game or not, I can tell you that it can be a somewhat short game if you decide to just focus on the main quest and ignore the collectibles. But if you decide not to play it, then I advise you watch the OST videos from a channel named "yesmen10" (or something close to it). It features the song as well as glimpses of the gameplay associated to the OST. It's a good way to get an idea of why there is so much epicness. As everyone else is already saying, the Sonic OSTs are quite the rabbit hole, you can find so many great OSTs in there. I would advise you to start with the OSTs from Sonic Forces, and if you're curious, the ones from Sonic Colours, which already get much closer to the Sonic mood we all know. As for other games' OSTs, I would recommend "Ticking Away" and "Fire Again" from Valorant. They come from Riot Games, so you already know it's gonna be good.

Don't know if you've gotten around to checking out the actual game yet, but, the soundtrack is very good, but mostly when you are running around as a "blue hedgehog collecting rings" this wouldn't be playing on the arranged soundtrack. They reserve the good ones for the boss fights and it makes it that much more epic. That first time I ran into Giganto and they started playing Undefeatable, I could barely play cause I was freaking out over the music. Fortunately the boss fights in that game are more of a spectacle than an actual boss fight, so you could headbang your controller and still win. That being said, There are some other good soundtracks throughout the game, but they aren't metal. The cyberspace stages have some techno/electronic/not even sure what you call it, style of music that I didn't get tired of even after repeating a stage several times.

It appears you need some much needed context: This is the song that plays when you fight one of the four skyscraper-sized giant robots that serve as this game's main bosses that you fight as Super Sonic. Though, depending on how experienced you are, it may be more accurate to say Super Sonic turns these nearly invincible ancient mechs into ragdoll punching bags. Each of these robots has a theme. These fights are probably some of the coolest shonen moments this series has had... EVER, and was a massive return to form for the franchise. Sonic's always had edgier tones with its vocal themes, but they absolutely popped off for the Titan Boss themes. As an example of Sonic's prior writing, we have: - Sonic Adventure 2, released 2001, is a story about Shadow's origins as a being created for vengeance by a scientist who had most of his friends and family executed by the military, who went insane and more or less programmed Shadow to help destroy the world - Sonic Unleashed, Eggman destroys the planet and Sonic travels the world to put it back together - Sonic and the Black Knight, a story that culminates in a battle of eternity or life; Sonic and the main antagonist showing off in a battle to decide whether or not a world will live forever in stasis, or persist, but eventually wither and die an inevitable death. Sonic is fighting for the latter, not because it's necessarily the right thing, but because he believes life is only worth living because it's limited, so it's best to make the most of what you have, all to a banger rock song by the band "All Ends" called "With Me". This game was kinda hailed as the peak of Sonic's writing. Frontiers was a return to this kind of writing after a decade of the series being handled by writers who wrote such incredible lines such as "Baldy McNosehair". Rest assured, for the normal zones, the music is less intense, but still has some absolute VIBES for the Cyberspace stages. The open world also has some really chill environmental tracks.
@Aliix4588 ай бұрын
This song doesn't play when you're running around collecting rings, it plays during the third boss fight of the game Which explains the intense-ness.

The series is called Kamen Rider, and it’s got A LOT of theme songs (since the show has been running for more than 50 years now), that I think would be right up your alley! Even more so if you’re familiar with shows like Power Rangers (which this show is by the same creators as the Japanese version of it, Super Sentai). Again, it would be different than what you’re used to, but the music itself has a lot of anime feeling to it. Regardless, I can’t wait to see what you react to next!😁

sonic has been around a long time. after the first couple games, sega realized that to stay relevant in the market they had to do something different. They chose the soundtrack. and thus every sonic game has had sountracks that were leagues and bounds beyond other games at the time. A specific demographic latched on to the songs of the later sonic games and the games soundtraks grew along with the players. This is the result of their pandering to their audience, and by god is it satisfying.
