In Find Your Flame, Tyler Smyth (part of metalcore band Dangerkids) does the rap sections and Kellin Quinn does the rest. This came as a fun surprise for the fans, because Tyler also featured as a singer for a song from Sonic Forces (the previous mainline Sonic game before Frontiers) titled Infinite. It's possible that Infinite is already in your queue somewhere! The rapping in both Find Your Flame and Infinite have a similar structure and melody between rap and chorus, but Find Your Flame feels more empowering because it's closer aligned with Super Sonic, where Infinite (the song) is a lot more sinister because Infinite (the character, yes they have the same name) is a reality-bending villain. Having Tyler come back for a second performance, one that is almost like a counter-argument in themes between infinite and Find Your Flame, was a slick move.

how does undefeatable reflect amy? 😭 seriously i wanna know, cause i can’t find anything in the song. also i have a theory regarding the pov of the songs. some people think it’s from sonic’s pov, some think from the titan’s (really the ancients who controlled them, but you know), and i’m here to say, i can connect them to both. i think the lyrics are supposed to be going back and fourth between perspectives. similar to a call and response kind of situation. for example break through it all, the verse is supposed to be how these ancients are feeling about what happened, and everything going on, and it’s all kinda dark. then the chorus comes, and it’s really uplifting, and sounds exactly like something sonic would say. eh? eh?? do you agree? i think i hit the nail on the head, if i do say so myself.

Sonic’s voice actor Roger Craig Smith’s voice is a bit deeper than it used to be and as a result, Sonic’s voice is deeper. People think he’s supposed to be a bit older in frontiers so it is entirely possible they were going for a more adult feel.

I think my favorite part about all of these songs is they are ALL ABOUT DETERMINATION AND NEVER GIVING UP. I've seen people refer to these as "screamo metal" or emo or edgy or whatever. no, they're anything but, the absolute opposite of edgy or emo, they're all about never giving up, never backing down, standing up for yourself and giving back what's thrown at you, to not just take abuse but to defend yourself regardless of what you've been through. it's like power metal in its intense positivity and..."looking-forwardness" but much "lower" sounding rather than the usual "higher" sound that power metal has.

As far as everything I've read on the Frontiers OST, Tomoya Ohtani did everything music wise, including the metalcore tracks, I think he likely contracted Kellin, Smyth, and Merry Kirk (who did the vocals on I'm Here) to possibly help write lyrics or just perform the vocals. The main reason why I think this is cause there's been instrumental versions of these songs released since and the previous 3 performers aren't mentioned anywhere on the instrumental versions as far as anything else beyond vocals that were on the vocal tracks. I do enjoy sleeping with sirens myself, I feel like they don't get as heavy as we hear in these songs though. They sound more like a heavier punk band imo than a metalcore band similar to something like Dragged Under if you ever heard them before. Tomoya Ohtani, though, is a fantastic artist and composer who done absolute gold. If you ever get curious on how he performs there's clips of him and his group performing at the Sonic Orchestra thet had a couple years ago, though it was before Frontiers was released so you don't see any of those tracks there, but it still gives you a small idea on how versatile he is just watching him perform.

Regarding the discussion between the two songs, you really should check out some of the other songs on the OST, not JUST the boss songs like this. It's crazy how much variety this soundtrack has, only the boss themes are this more "edgy metal" sound. You have more of a pop feel in songs like One Way Dream and I'm With You (Vocal Version), the Cyberspace (basically bonus levels) songs (there's an official "Cyberspace DJ Mix" mashup you can listen to on the Sonic channel for an easy sampler) are all different EDM genres from Trance to Drum and Bass, and then the main overworld tracks (it's an open world game with multiple islands) are beautiful orchestral movements with multiple parts. Sonic games have always had music variety in different games but rarely does one single game have such vastly different music all cohesively working together.

i feel the context of break through it all really help its reason for its different pacing, frontiers takes place over the course of several islands each being capitalized by their own boss, two(undefeatble and find your flame) are in a locked area, turning their fights into this hyper intense mashpit, one however(break through it all) takes place over the entire island as you're engaged in an arial chase which takes more of the fight than the actual beating up the boss as you instead spend most of your time dodging and parrying their own, the songs arent just perfect for the high speed aggression fightstyle of sonic but perfect for their unique instances

Been waiting for this one. Find Your Flame is my favorite vocal track from Frontiers, not only because its just a bangin' track but because it's also the song representing Tails (who is also my favorite StH character). Each boss track does represent the friend character you meet in the lyrics, and going with the characterization Tails goes through on the island and listening to the lyrics, its something special. "You'll find your flame" is basically Sonic telling Tails that he'll one day grow into his own and be the hero he's meant to become. Break Through It All took a few listens to grow on me, primarily because of how oppressive and "negative" it sounds at the start (my music knowledge is next to nothing, but it uses lower tone chords, right?). But that works in contrast to the sudden "positive", higher tone chords come in with the 2nd verse. And once again, the lyrics match the character you meet, which is Knuckles. The way you describe the song, slow and chunky, does represent Knuckles in away; he's not the fastest (or smartest), but by god, when he hits, he *hits*. Just like the song. Really glad you enjoyed them, and here's hoping you touch on the rest of the boss vocal tracks (and maybe even the 2 credit tracks)!

Next on the list for Sonic Frontiers, you've got I'm Here, the theme song of the game and also a boss song, and I'm Here Revisited, the version from the last update of the free DLC. You could also listen to the orchestral version of I'm Here, since it plays in-between both of those, but since you're doing 2 songs per video I'm guessing not ! If you think the whole game's OST is like the boss themes, you're in for a surprise ! It's a sort of soundtrack that can get surprisingly deep and emotional. In fact, I hope you get to react to one or two of the field themes ( they're called Island Movevements, because they are in multiple versions that build up as you progress ). Notably, the Theme of Starfall Islands, and also the specific video of the making of Ares Island's 2nd Movement. It's so worth it, and you'll see Frontiers' sound in a new light ! And then of course, there's the Cyberspace level themes. For these I think you can just watch the two DJ mixes on the official Sonic The Hedgehog channel. Likewise, next time you react to Frontiers music, I hope you get the official uploads from the SEGA Topic !

God bless Tomoya Ohtani. You'd be surprised this game has like 3 different music styles (orchestral, edm and metalcore) and he has delved in all 3. Also you should try to seek the ost versions of these songs instead of the ones from random uploaders if possible
@TheA_Gamer5547 ай бұрын
also here are the credits for these 3 songs you've heard: Vocals by Kellin Quinn (Sleeping With Sirens) [& Tyler Smyth (Dangerkids) for Find Your Flame] Lyrics & Co-Vocal Writing by Tyler Smyth, Julian Comeau, Kellin Quinn Composed & Arranged by Tomoya Ohtani Co-Arranged & Mixed by MEG Guitars & Programming: MEG (9 string btw) Vocals Produced by Tyler Smyth Vocals Edited by Julian Comeau Vocal Session coordinated by Jun Senoue & Tyler Smyth Artist Management: 5B Management Producer Management: John Youngman (Fly South Music Group) It is not a "band" but a group of musicians Jun and Ohtani got together

Ayy you returned to them big hype, they also have instrumentals on the album which really let you hear the instruments. And nah its kellen and tyler smyth (dangerkids) for the songs plus segas normal music producers. People have joked that this was better than sleeping with sirens recent albums and… its kinda not a joke lol. Theres one more song they did though, “im here” revisited version which was for the free dlc

I’m sitting there listening to the intro wondering where I’ve heard it before and then it hit me, it’s queens blood theme music 😭

I hope down the road people send "one way dream" and "i'm with you (vocal)" towards you. These are the credits themes & some of my favorites personally from the soundtrack, along with the cyber space themes, where the composer just went, "we have access to all these artists & composers through rhythm games like hatsune miku & chunithm along others, let's bring them in to participate here." Let's just say they went nuts in a good way with those. To answer your question about why it's called frontiers, it's many because of two reasons: 1: This is the start of a new era of sonic, a "new frontier" if you will. 2: You travel in big environments / open zones most of the time, a bunch of frontiers you could say. Think how monster hunter has different biomes that are huge, but they're not connected physically to each other, so you can't just walk from one into another. You have to travel between them through other means.

big Sleeping With Sirens fan. recent SWS sounds kinda like this, though with a liiittle more pop sentiment. their first two albums get heavier, though with rougher mixing and whatnot of course. this is not the entire band, only Kellin lending his voice to the music :)

I cannot believe there were almost 8 months in between sonic songs. This is truly the greatest travesty (and I’m a new subscriber lol) I’m game for more Sonic, Mario and Pokémon for the rest of time immoral. Truly the 3 Goats of VGM. I can count on one hand the games from these collective series that had bad soundtracks.

Break Through It All is one of my favorite boss themes in the whole series, and the boss it plays in is so fucking epic it's insane. Feels like you're playing a shonen game.
@l3nil7 ай бұрын
all of those songs are first 3 boss battle themes. they go hard as hell, id say at least watch one video of them so you can truly get the experience

First time I heard either of these and my god I love Break Through It All. Put on my playlist.

The first time i've played frontiers undefeatable blew my mind super hard cuz even i as a long time fan of the series who listened to powerman 5000 playing in one of the games wasn't expecting fast metal in the first boss. When i got to the 2nd boss fight one of my friends who isn't into sonic just came by and watched me start the boss and beat it, and it was so funny watch him get flabergasted that he was seeing sonic super saiyan fighting a gigantic mechanical dragon that shoot missiles and lasers while metal music played in the background asuhasuhauhasuh When he realized the music was syncing with the fight (yeah the music syncs with the fight in the game i'm not kidding) he looked at me and went "wait this isn't your playlist, this is in the game?" "yeah i know, i wasn't expecting aswell when i got to the first boss" "gee i have to check this game now". We know eachother since school, and i've never seen him so interested in a sonic game like that moment.

Def should do "im here" and "I'm here Revisited" for the next one. Then you should explore more 3d sonic vocal tracks. Cuz their are a bunch of great ones

Honestly I have to agree, people don't really talk about the drummer much at ALL in these songs but honestly I think they're doing just as much work as the lead singer in these songs. It's SO good.

sonic music is always great. so many different genres. sonic has always had attitude and each soundtrack fits the game it comes from. and yeah this soundtrack in general goes hard. so many great songs that fit so many feels. boss music being top notch. sonic is one of the reasons i listen to what i listen to. crush 40 back in adventure days bringing hard rock to the series was great.

'im here and 'im here(revisited)' are definitely the last two boss themes you should give a chance to listen too. Im here(original) is sung by Merry Kirk-Holmes Im here(revisited) is sung by Kellin Quinn

i love your reactions jesse, i'm glad you finally got around to more sonic but it'll be cool to see you react to metal hellsinger music, those songs are heavy an right up your alley.

Really happy to see you listening to more Sonic Frontiers music! The game is so fun and such a breath of fresh air for Sonic, and the music perfectly adds to that feeling. I know it'd probably never happen, but I'd love for you to check out the game someday!

if you’re interested in sleeping with sirens i recommend their older stuff. like their album “with ears to see and eyes to hear” kellins range is super impressive and the songs are super catchy. it’s not too crazy heavy and djenty like this but still a good listen.
@ReenaRibona7 ай бұрын
Just so you know all the vocal fights are major boss fights that have to be done as super sonic against gigantic titan-like robots that eggman “didn’t” make and the literal embodiment of nothing and void they are Undefeatable= Giganto Break through it all = Wyvern Find your flame= Knight I’m Here = Supreme With you/I’m here(revisited) =The End
@superbodoque78607 ай бұрын
The more i listen to it honestly Break Through it All might become my favorite of the 4, it's a lot different than the others cuz those play the chorus 3 times, a sick ass guitar rift before the final chorus, and they're fast, it's like a similar "structure" to previous Sonic songs, namely the Crush 40 ones, but this one? Super heavy, sick ass guitar rift happens around the middle before transitioning into the best part which lasts till the end, the use of violins, the most heroic and badass sounding guitar riffs in the background complimenting the vocals, i just love it Also yes i said 4 because Kellin did one last song: I'm Here (Revisited) which you should totally check out too

Find Your Flame: You're dueling a gigantic multi-legged knight robot inside a huge crater as Super Sonic in freeflight, ripping its shield and blade from it to beat the crap out of it. Break Through It All: The boss is a gigantic, long robot wyrm in the sky as Super Sonic in freeflight, chasing each other over the entire width and length of the open world (yes, really) with a bullet hell of lasers and rockets.

to answer your question on if this is what sleeping with sirens sounds like, its funny, because this sonic ost is definitely heavier than the typical SWS sound lol
