Part of this movie was filmed in my high-school, and all throughout my home state of UT, this dance scene was filmed in the Lehi roller mills.

I live in Utah too, but was in AZ when the film was made. I didn't know for a long time that it was filmed in Utah. I'm in Pleasant Grove, so not far from Lehi. I've passed by the Lehi Roller Mills many times. Great song on a great album with other songs like "Danger Zone", "I'm Alright", "Pooh Corner" and others.

Lehi roller mills were such a landmark. My grandpa lived in Lehi and always looked forward to seeing them and knowing we were close to seeing him.

Footloose is based on a true story about the small town of Elmore City, Oklahoma where it was forbidden to dance because of a not-forgotten ordinance from the late 1800’s that forbid dancing within the city limits. The Seniors of Elmore High School wanted a senior prom, and it 1979 the city council agreed to LET THEM DANCE! ❤️😀

@drag0nfly_girl kinda sad that a leader of that community can impose their beliefs, no matter how crazy and over the top, on any member of that community. Did you even see the movie? The community took what the preacher said too far... Book burning? Nice. The kids just wanted to have a dance, like every other school does. If that destroyed their Christian community, then it wasn't very strong anyway. BTW I am Christian... also dance.
