Once upon a time, the only way to get anywhere in show business was to have talent. There are other factors, too, of course, but talent was the foundation. Please listen to more of the greatest female singer, Ella Fitzgerald. Consider her duets with Louis Armstrong.

I am thinking of the same thing. That was a great duo.

Frank Sinatra, old Blue eyes , was a class act. Not only was he an extraordinary singer & performer, but he was a great actor as well . Wonderful reaction !

Frank Sinatra is the best male pop singer ever and Ella Fitzgerald is the best female pop singer ever.

One of the lovely things about songs from that era is that they had introductions. The first part gets sung as in this one, and then it changes. If you don’t know this, it’s a lovely surprise. I love the way your face changed, it lit up! There’s a cute little video here on KZbin, search for Honey Bun, South Pacific. It’s a show put on by the Navy ladies on a tropical island for the men, who are missing their families at Thanksgiving.

"Luck Be A Lady" was featured in the musical "Guys & Dolls" in 1955. It starred Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons & Vivian Blaine. Frank Sinatra was such a smooth crooner. He has a huge library of great songs. Some of my favorites are "Fly Me To The Moon", "New York, New York", "Strangers In The Night", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "That's Life", "My Kind Of Town", "Summer Wind" etc. And he did a duet with his daughter Nancy called "Something Stupid" in 1967.

Sinatra’s library was huge. My mom is 92 and has dementia, she’s lost so much memory. But music sticks in her brain. If I start to sing something from that era she joins right in. Sinatra, Tony Bennet, Rosemary Clooney, she’s right there. Every word!

Yes I was part in our city theater group production of guys and dolls in 1985. It is one of the best musicals of the 50s would be great doing a reaction to the video of it.

I always thought Sinatra recorded this song because he resented that his supposed lead role in the Guys & Dolls movie didn't have the best song in the show. The movie version added a new song for Nathan Detroit and cut one of Skye Masterton's best numbers, which did not improve the show. I'd lay money those defects were due to Sinatra's insistence

@mannyjacobowitz5571 That is true him and Brando never got along and never acted together again. Plus, Sinatra Nathan Detroit was a much more interesting part than Sky Masterson. Come on now, who doesn't want to play Nathan.

This was a popular song from one of the best Broadway musicals ever, Guys & Dolls. I've seen it on stage several times, and usually sung better than Sinatra's studio version
