This was another amazing reaction to one of my all time favorite hip hop groups! I’ve seen them a lot in the 90’s until their eventual breakup. And I still like Lauren Hill and Wyclef’s solo stuff! You made my day more amazing Empress! They have a lot more fantastic songs and hope you enjoy exploring this band!

Lauren Hill is a great example of sticking with it and not letting anyone stop her. When she was 13, she got booed on the Apollo but she kept singing. That could have ruined her but she had what it took to keep pushing. She was in Sister Act with Whoopi Goldburg. With the Fugees she was great but her solo career was even better. Simply outstanding!

You can't go wrong with Lauren Hill. She was with the Fugees and on Wyclef's solo "Carnival". She then released "The Mis-Education of Lauren Hill" This album is a masterpiece. It is somewhat personal About her relationship with Wyclef Jean and her decision to keep her baby. (Zion). Here is the album on KZbin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGKrd62ba5h9mZI

"Sonombulous" is the loop on this track. I had just watched the movie "Sleepwalkers" that featured that song. I was like I need that for a beat (I was rapping at the time). Fast forward a couple years later and this chick I was seeing asked if I've heard the new Fugees album yet and I'm like naw. She plays this track. I was lightweight salty because I wanted to use that sample but I couldn't stay mad because they killed it!!

So that hum you love, in the background, is a sample of "Boadicea" (1987) by Irish singer Enya, and its chorus is based on "Ready or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide from Love)" by the Delfonics. Enya considered suing the Fugees because they had sampled "Boadicea" without her permission. Enya stated, "We were actually on the verge of suing them because of the copyright infringement, because they just didn't approach us. It was a case of, I wasn't featured at all on the credits and it [the sample] was very much a part of the song." However, the singer reached an agreement with the Fugees to an out-of-court settlement after she realized that their music wasn't gangsta rap. According to Wyclef, "Luckily when Enya heard everything, she was like, ‘This is different’ and she gave us a pass - which she don’t even need to do." The situation was a learning experience for the group, who at the time were unaware of copyright clearance and unfamiliar with publishing procedures.

You probably “heard this before” because it was stolen, I mean “sampled” from Enya. The Refugees pretty much fell off the earth after this album. Lauren Hill had a brief solo career until she was convicted of tax evasion in 2012 for $2.3 million.
