One thing many people forget about GD is that he's been in the industry performing since 00. People often associate him only with Big Bang but he was in YG before BB's creation and was rapping on YG Family projects as a member and had solo projects. He's had hits with every Kpop generation. Youngest debut ever at the age of 6, then again at 8, then he moved to YG and debuted as G-Dragon in 2000. G dragon is maybe the most or a close second influential Kpop artist of all time. Modern kpop is built around G dragon's creativity. He also the first kpop idol to have creative control and made it possible for future generations to write and produce their own music. Even the symbol of kpop aka the bright dyed hair was G dragon's idea. He's also makes music for other idols. He composed Baby monster's drip and wrote some of the lyrics. He's basically the Kanye West of Asia but less crazy and instead of a deal with Adidas it's with Nike.

Thank you for your reaction. I think you might have heard his name in IU's song "Palette." As someone who's been following K-pop since the second generation, I love all the songs he's produced. However, if I were to suggest songs to someone new to K-pop, especially someone starting with the fourth generation, I'd recommend: G-Dragon - "무제(無題) (Untitled, 2014)" I'd also love to see your reaction to: Big Bang - "Loser" Taeyong - "Eyes, Nose, Lips" (There's also a version with Tablo from Epik High) These songs truly deserve your attention and reaction.

Yes, he made the song out of spite. You might've heard of him from the news not long ago. He was accused to have been using drugs. The whole country went against him especially the mainstream media, even youtubers used the opportunity to gain money from it. If you wanna know how bad was it? An actor was accused the same at the same time and his career basically ended and in debt because all endorsement and contracts he signed previously needed to be compensated and caused him to be heavily in debt. He had passed away in an apparent self harm because of it. They tried to do the same to Gdragon. Luckily for us, Gdragon is still with us today and he had won(he proved himself innocent) and he sued the F out of those media people. The first time in history, they made a VERY public apology to him. The song is for the people who tried to ruined him.

Thank you for the info, I hate when I hear of ppl being held to a standard then cancelled if not… everyone is human and makes mistakes or bad choices, but that doesn’t make them a bad person always. I’m glad to hear him overcome this, too many ppl lose their livelihood over accusations that turn out to be not true

GDragon has been a creative force în kpop and because he btoke the stereotype and forced some roads to open he got hate. He literaly got death treats for being the the first to produce music . Bigbang were the first to have creative control and people could not accept idols can be more than company puppets. GD and BigBang are the blueprint of the kpop you see today . The first rapline , the first lightstick, made r&b popular, solo careers without disband, mini albums ,even colored hair . Last year Korea tried again to kill GD with invented accusations of drug use . Police and media started a wichunt based solo on the testimony of a drug addict that a "suspicious wrapper " was seen în a club bathroom and GD was "acting strange" . Trash basicly , in a public bathroom , in a club , that a woman said she saw in the men bathroom . Poor GD was hunted down , he had to force the police to test him for drugs . Hair , blood urine , nails all tests negative , yet some people still believe is not true . Want to try more of GD watch live performances from his world tour MOTTE or MAMA 2014 , Nilliria with Missy Elliott.

It's crazy how you've missed out on GD/Bigbang stuff, I know you guys appreciate live performers and they are the legends of epic performances. GD also wrote and produced most of Bigbang's music.They are the idols of idols, and are one of the few boy groups that males are stans of. Most of their concerts they don't even do synchronized dances anymore, they just jam out like rock stars. I'd say go straight to Bigbang's MAMA 2013 or MAMA 2015 performances, their live versions are better than studio recordings or MVs. If you want to be traditional and go to MVs first, check out Bigbang's Loser or FXXK IT.

A lot of others have commented it, but G-Dragon *is* the king of Kpop - there's nobody close to his level of influence in the industry (and South Korea as a whole). He's created so many production, writing, and fashion trends that it's hard to keep up. GD, along with IU, are known as an idol's idol. I suggest checking out his performance (as well as the extended Big Bang stage) at the recent MAMA awards to get a sense of it - the entire stadium erupts as soon as Big Bang comes on (which he is the leader, writer, and producer of) and every idol goes crazy for them.
