Gdragon is actually another level even from BTS in Korea, actually. While a lot of idols have a fan base and that's how they get their streams, sales, etc., Gdragon and Big Bang was loved by everyone, so I don't think there was even really a streaming culture for them. But even then I think Big Bang was the first artist to achieve all songs of their albums being the top X consecutively on the music charts. Gdragon and Big Bang were the first to do numerous things such as: (honestly this is such an incomplete list) - Gdragon was also one of the first idols to write (and be highly successful) with his own songs - First male idol to win the Daesang both as a group and individually. Including with Big Bang, he won 13 daesangs. - "Julsaewoogi" = when all songs of an album are top of music charts (consecutive). He created this with his first sollo album. - First Korean singer to be on the annual Billboard album artist chart. - First solo in Korean singer history to hold a concert at the Seoul World Cup Stadium; highest number of concert viewers - He created the "airport fashion". - He created the first light stick (previously, fans used coloured balloons or signs) - Frst person in Korea to become a global ambassador of a luxury brand - First Asian global ambassador of Chanel, Givenchy - His brand has a collaboration with Nike -> He's a fashion icon in Korea to the point where people said that once he went into the military, Korea's male fashion would stop. The title is not because of popularity, he is considered the King of Kpop because of the way he has revolutionized the industry, with his accomplishments in brands, in helping Kpop become recognized globally, in deals and sponsorships, in becoming a trendsetter in clothing style, hairstyle and even his creation the idol group lightsticks, and thats not including his music! In most of the shots of GD in shows and on stage with other groups you will see the idols of today in the background and the way they look at him is in awe every time. 😅

There was a witchhunt on Gdragon last year(?) where an article was released saying that he had done drugs even though the police didn't even have enough evidence to get a warrant. When the article was released, Gdragon just voluntarily went and got investigated and came out proven innocent. This song is about that, hence the "I have all of the receipts". There's so much word play in this song, it's ridiculous, even from the smallest things like the dragonfly / "spot to lie" line because dragon fly is jamjali in Korean, which can also mean place to sleep. Personally, I love his solo song "Untitled 2014", "Who You". The first few hit songs of Big Bang which are still considered classics are "Haru Haru" and "Lies", which GD wrote. I also love "If You" and "Let's Not Fall in Love". In 2015, they released four singles through their "MADE" series, then a full studio album in 2016, which included title songs like Fantastic Baby, Bang Bang Bang, Last Dance

G-dragon is a rapper, a singer, a song writer, a lyricist, a music producer, a dancer, a fashion brand owner, a designer, an artist, a global fashion icon, and an Idol. And this not like 'he can do it a bit' but he REALLY GOOD at all of it. He really is one of the most (if not the most) well known person within South Korea. He and his group BigBang was basically the idols of other k-pop idols. His influence beyond music is also cant be understated, especially in fashion that he is also acknowledged globally (you can just look it up). I would say if you wanna know more about his discography look up for some BigBang hits like 'Bang Bang Bang', 'Loser', 'Sober', 'Still Life', 'Bad Boy', 'Fantastic Baby', 'Haru Haru', and 'Lies', and some of his collaboration songs with other Bigbang member like 'Good Boy' and 'Zutter', and also his solo hits like 'Untitled 2014', 'Crooked', 'Crayon', 'Heartbreaker'. GD is a genius, not just someone popular but very influential in the industry. So many things normal nowadays in korean music industry are things copied from him. Watch a video explaining him by DKDKTV, it's quite good one. He's been in entertainment since he was 3, in music since 6-7 years old (international age), was in Korea's first rap album when he was 13 etc. He's the blue print, and like I said, genius, with ways of his own. He copies no one but the whole industry copies him.

GDRAGON's lyrics have 2,3 and 4 meanings.. across languages, yes- As an English speaker you were meant to hear "BIGBANG".. in Korean he has double or triple meaning. I saw a great explanation of this song and want to share: There are lots of Korean wordplay, so some lines of lyrics might feel awkward, These are some clues that you can understand the song more. 88: GD's birthday is 18.08.1988, So he puts his own meaning on the Number 8. That's why he wrote so many 8s in his lyrics. You can see the Metro map on 2:03, it's a track-list of his up coming album, there are 8 tracks. The last line of lyrics ("Fly high"): The original Korean lyrics' pronunciation is "Pal Pal Nara" (Means fly high). There is a wordplay as well, 'Pal' is 8, same pronunciation, and 'Pal Pal' is kind of onomatopoeia, 'Nara' is Flying, so this line was translated flying high in English. And that's why the ending scene shows 8 8 (Pal Pal) and GD jumps (Flying) (Nara) In addition, he came back in 88 months since his last comeback. If you know kpop, you have to know G Dragon. Bts mabey has large fanbase around the world but Bigbang was like the Korean, Korean group. Bts mabey pawed the way for younger groups abroad, but bigbang was the one that made this possible for them in Korea. It wasnt about streaming their music but just to enjoy it. I know you read the disclaimer at the end of MV about the animals.. " yah whatever".. but it had a deeper meaning. The only animals in the MV were baby goats - Kids. GDRAGON introduced himself to baby goats as "the GOAT".. Goat surrounded by Kids. None YET at GOAT level.. The kids were wearing university/college blazers .. Gdragon is a professor at KAIST university.. so some of his "Kids" there will become GOATS of their industries in the future. ALL of GD's MV has layers on layers. I hope you enjoyed it.

What you need to check out for GD and Bigbang? Everything. Almost every 3rd Gen Idol that I can think of has cited them as an inspiration or claimed to be a fan of them. That has even extended to 4th gen and even some 5th gen. For good reason too. They probably have the most vocal celebrity fans out there too. Which can be verified by words spoken from their own mouthes over time or attendances to concerts etc. Not the fandom forced connections & fanfics you see all over the place these days.

Don't know GD's feelings, but I think that the Palestinian thing seems to be one of the rumor things he is talking about. The CEO of the USA music distribution company for this song is a Palestinian American raised in California. Same distribution company as people like Shaboozey. He seems a nice guy and am sure he empathises with anyone going through a terrible circumstances. He has donated money to many things over the years and recently donated a lot of money to set up a support organisation for youth who get into drug related problems.
