The infamous 3rd verse 😉 below 👇 Being Southern, this song is etched into our soul. Garth is one hell of an entertainer. "I guess I was wrong I just don't belong But then, I've been there before And everything is alright I'll just say goodnight And I'll show myself to the door Hey I didn't mean to cause a big scene Just wait 'til I've finished this glass Then sweet little lady I'll head back to the bar And you can kiss my ass"

The funny thing is, that country is actually more often like this. The problem is that people want to share songs that they have sentimental and emotional attachment to. With country that tends to be beautiful, sappy, and too often sad songs. This is not how you win over a crowd that is unfamiliar with the complete works of the artists. They walk away thinking country is not for them. Seriously, do actual fans sit around listening to the sad, serious, pain stricken side of country. You get people willing to at least try country and only recommended the sad, slow, sentimental songs. Well their initial opinion of country is now solidified. Recommendations should pull people in and then work your way to those meaningful songs, eventually. Just give them enough time to enjoy songs they can connect to and appreciate like this one before you change gears. I get it, I do. I have a playlist called Grandpa and Grandma that have all those slower, sadder songs from the 1940's through 1970's. I enjoy this playlist when I want to walk down memory lane, occasionally, but I won't be pushing it onto someone who enjoys rock, hip-hop, etc.... For those people I give them songs off my 'Put Some Drive in Your Country' playlist named after the Travis Tritt song and occasionally dip into the Country playlist for the mix of more contemporary (1970's onwards) sentimental, 'tear in my beer,' and upbeat tunes once they are ready for it. He should try: I Don't Need Your Rocking Chair by George Jones, Why'd You Come in Here Looking Like That by Dolly Parton, Move It On Over by Hank Williams, Born to Boogie by Hank Williams Jr. and Watch Me By Lorrie Morgan Dwight Yoakam has a reputation for sad, sad songs, but if you really look at his catalog those super sad ones are there, but it contains way more sass, and upbeat tunes than it contains sorrowful ones. Try: Things Change, Sorry You Asked?, and Fast As You. He also does a nice cover of Long White Cadillac.

He's so incredible all the time, but seeing him live ... wow, is it electric! The energy in a venue with him practically makes your hair stand on end! He's very charismatic, as well as musically talented. I love Garth! He's the reason I started listening to country music. ❤ PS, they cut out the third verse, you can hear the video hitch, it talks about kicking ass. It's not officially recorded anywhere that I know of. And a piece of trivia, the lady with the long blond hair is Trisha Yearwood. She toured with him (she has an amazing voice herself) and they wound up getting married. A high, high energy song that was crazy to watch in person is, "Ain't Goin' Down Til The Sun Comes Up." Sometimes he would fly out over the audience in a harness and sing while he was flying up to the nosebleed seats. Incredible! If I can find a link I'll leave it here, but as you noted, you pretty much have to buy it straight out if you want his music. I have every song on CD. Lol

When I worked in a children’s cancer hospital, Garth Brooks showed up. Loaded up the kids & some parents in his buses & took them to the concert venue. Gave them their very own concert & nobody ever knew about it.

This song came out when I was in 6th grade. My youngest sister, who was around 6 at the time, would sing “I’m not big on sausage gravy” instead of “social graces” lol. In the south we love our gravy lol.

I love sharing this story... my hometown used to hold a chili cookoff competition and fair in the early fall. Around 1987, the committee hired a Oklahoman by the name of Garth Brooks to play that year's cookoff. The day before the cookoff his band drives down, but he was still working his construction job, so he planned on driving down the next day. The day rolls around, and he calls the committee to tell them his truck had broke down. A couple of the guys go up to Oklahoma (I'm in Texas) and pick him up, he performs and rocks my little hometown, and goes home with his band. A few years later, this song comes on the radio and just explodes. The other thing is the high school, for about six months, had an old-fashioned jukebox in the cafeteria so we could play whatever we wanted. One of the reasons why it was removed was because there was a continuous fight over what was being played: Back in Black for the metalheads, whatever NKOTB song was out at the time for the pop fiends, and Friends in Low Places for the ropers. The entire cafeteria would usually stop eating and start singing Friends whenever the ropers got to the jukebox.

Everyone loves his song called the dance, but for me One of his favourite songs to me is called the change. It came out after the Oklahoma numbing years ago and it’s so good. The message is really nice!

Garth is entertainment at its pinnacle. Not much more to be said other than if you can't react to his songs because of copyrights take the time to listen just for the pleasure. Others have mentioned his second wife, Trisha Yearwood, being on stage with him. Check her out. Many songs to choose from but Wrong Side of Memphis or Walkaway Joe (with Don Henley) are my suggestions.

He did know how to put on a show. He was voted Entertainer of the Year like every single year he was actively touring.

This was Garth's first song to the world. He has many good ones, but The Thunder Rolls is probably his most powerful song! Give it a listen!

Great reaction, Jay Garth Brooks is one of a kind. I hope you get to see him live! Please check out his song called Mom. It hits you in the feels, a much softer side of a wonderful entertainer.

I went to his concert years ago when he was in Australia. He killed it. The whole time, the concert was going off. We were practically jumping from the second he came out. We were slamming our feet as hard as we could. We don't clap as much as we stomp our feet in appreciation. I would go again in a heartbeat. He's that awesome
