Gary Moore is for most people known for Still Got the Blues but before that he played mostly hard rock during the '80s. During the '70s he was a member of Thin Lizzy three times! Further before breaking as a solo artist he did some jazz-rock/fusion stuff with a band called Coloseum II. The keyboard player in that band became a good friend of Gary and often toured with him and played on many albums. If you really wanna know what Gary was capable of then check out The Messiah Will Come Again live!! He always played with lots of passion and improvisation live.

Interesting! I’d never heard of him but that was enjoyable to hear- great reaction and request! I looked him up and he was in Thin Lizzy ( Irish rock band) , too, among other bands in the 70’s and 80’s. 👍🏼🙂💜

I loved the intro - it reminded me of Pat Metheny. The body of the song was pretty much 80s rock concert. He gave that guitar a work out for sure!

If there’s something you have to do before you die, listen/watch his tribute to Jimmy Hendrix “Red House”. I love Jimmy, but Gary Moore does it so much better. He destroyed that concert (The Strat Pack), which marked the 50 year anniversary of Fender. Blew all the other artists out of the water, including Dave Gilmore.

So good you discovered the man that when you talk about the greatest guitarist of all time definitely comes into the discussion. Clapton SRV BB King Jimmy Paige Albert King and Marc Knopfler so many more are truly masters of their instrument. Gary is in that category without doubt. It’s difficult to choose the greatest of all time because these guys are truly fantastic musicians. I like to look at it objectively and consider them all true masters of their instruments and their craft

I always forget just how great he was! If I'm not mistaken, Ian Paice was still with Moore for this live performance and studio album. So wonderful for you to react to this sampling.

Hi there, Ian had left the band by this time and it was Eric Singer on the drums. Cheers and regards. 😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦

@@stevehanham9266 I know that he left "that year", but according to recording information, he was the drummer of record for the entire album. Feel free to check. 🙂

@@Eurynomea When this song first appeared on an album (Victims of the Future 1984) Ian Paice was indeed the drummer. Although he did not play on the whole album, he only played on 4 tracks. The song appeared again on the album Run For Cover 1985 where Gary used sampled drums for this track. The performance we watched here was recorded live in Stockholm in 1987 and the drummer was Eric Singer! 😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦

Probably his worst period, churning out commercial pop tunes. Thankfully he escaped and returned to his roots. Check out Story Of The Blues.
