One day my wife and I were driving somewhere and this song came on from my Ipod. She asked me this was and I said Gary Moore. After the song was done I noticed she was crying. I asked what was wrong and she said "The song is so beautiful". We would drive from the Boston area to Northern Michigan twice a year and if this song came on the "random'" playlist she would repeat. Often she would skip random and just play it twice. I always love the song as one with great guitar playing. My wife passed almost 3 years ago and I just now really listened to the lyrics. I get it babe.

My dad always loved the blues. As a kid, I would go out after school to play with my friends, and then come home around 5:00 for dinner. If this song was playing, I knew that dinner was either ready or almost ready because my dad blasted it throughout the house all the time. I got very tired of it as a kid (because I literally heard it every day and I wasn't into blues). Only years later have I come to respect my dad's taste in music. This song is one example- if I hear the first note I can sing the whole song without thinking, I just subliminally know it. I wish I hadn't shut it out when I was a kid. Rest easy, dad.

I have this theory that some rare people made perfect songs in the history of the music. This man and this song belong to it. I must say that just this live recording he has an exceptional sweet guitar tone. Tried to find the same recording on Spotify without any luck to hear it without KZbins compression. There are other live recordings of him that are really good, but this has something the other are missing. Just when he bends those notes to perfect intonation and it's just the right amount of treble so it's sweet but not ear-piercing. Ok, so after that rant; Anyone knows where to find the recording with better sound quality?

I found out about Gary Moore only a few years ago. I heard a tribute to him by Joe Bonamassa. I was fascinated & looked him up. I never heard anyone like him. I listened to everything I could by him. His playing literally brought me to tears. He touched my soul. I think he is the best guitarist I have ever heard. He blows u away & takes u to another world. There just aren't enough words to describe his talent. He holds a special place in my heart. I only wish I could have seen him in person. What a disappointment I never got to. RIP Gary ❤😢

Still Got the Blues Блюз для тебя (перевод Евгений Рыбаченко из Братска) Used to be so easy to give my heart away. But I found out the hard way, there's a price you have to pay. I found out that love was no friend of mine. I should have known time after time. Refren: So long, it was so long ago, but I've still got the blues for you. Used to be so easy to fall in love again. But I found out the hard way, it's a road that leads to pain. I found that love was more than just a game. You're playin' to win, but you lose just the same. Refren: So long, it was so long ago, but I've still got the blues for you., So many years since I've seen your face. Here in my heart, there's an empty space where you used to be. Refren: So long, it was so long ago, but I've still got the blues for you. Though the days come and go, there is one thing I know. I've still got the blues for you.

My girlfriend brought this song over to my house on cd and played it ten years ago. She said I should learn it. I’m ok on guitar, but this was a serious challenge. The notes are one thing, the soul is another. Very difficult. I never let her know I was interested in it, and never let her know I practiced every day. One day I plugged in my guitar and played it for her best I could. She cried and hugged me. I’m nowhere near his talent, but maybe someday. Bless you Gary.

I love his approach to fast/shreddy playing. He's playing very emotional and with lots and lots of feeling and he incorporates just 2-3 seconds of shredding in between every once in a while. Really integrating it and making the parts contribute to the song as a whole. It really works. He understood the value of fast playing and when to use it and when not to. Many modern lead players could learn a lot from this. Fast guitar stuff for extended periods of time is usually not very interesting, but it's amazing when used sparingly, keeps it interesting. Enjoy, but shred in moderation.
