Many years ago, I played a small pub gig in Northampton and one of our songs was Still Got The Blues. During the song, this odd looking woman stood about 2 feet in front of me just watching and swaying with the music. I thought she was nuts! Anyways, after the set, she came over and introduced herself as Gary Moore's sister in law. Her sister was Donna! She told me the story of how she met Gary. She was shacked up with a famous drummer who used to beat her up. Gary told her to move into his flat and have his bed whilst he slept on the sofa. She ended up introducing him to her sister who Gary fell madly in love with. When she ran off with the Gary Holton from Auf Wiedersehen Pet, it broke his heart and he never got over her. She told me Gary would have been proud of my solo during SGTB. I cried that night as Gary was my biggest hero and to have such nice comments from someone who knew him so well was the biggest highlight of my career.

The 1993 recording version that is on the Blues Alive album Does have an orchestra and is easily the very best version of this song. Big Problem is the dumb ass that edited the video... Yes true players will always look up to him and try to Aspire to be that good , he's set a bench mark that most if not anyone can not reach . i mean even on a technical level he could hold his own and even surpass the best technical shredders , his 80s hard rock technical wizardry was in a class of its own , check out his 16 the note alternate picking run (on out in the fields )played at 180bpm while picking across strings at insane speed and all done cleanly( that's insanely hard technical stuff ) , its incredibly technical . but really he was a blues player , he had everything , feel technical and virtuosity , He was in my mind one of the top 5 rock blues guitarists of all time .

RIP

Probably one of the greatest guitarists to grace this planet. This is one of my all time favourites. A true legend that left some remarkable music as his legacy. Gone, but never forgotten. R.I.P my friend.

Much as I love page, Clapton, Blackmore, Hendrix and gilmour it has been only Peter green and Gary Moore that could reach into your soul and grab your heart......

And, Pete Green offered his guitar to Gary who said he couldn't afford it. Pete said , sell your current guitar and give me whatever you get for it. That guitar has seen some good times.

This guy was exceptional, His timing and control were Jimi Hendrix-ish , I recall seeing posters of Jimi on a wall in Gary's room. Rest in peace Gary, what a player, the world is poorer without you and your ilk's.
