I actually had my first kiss this past Friday night at age 26. I took her out on our first date to the bar of her choice and we got there at 6:30pm and ended up shutting the place down at 2am. It was pouring down rain as I walked her to her car holding an umbrella in my left hand and her left in my right. She clutched the fresh cut roses I brought her in her right. As we got to her car, and we talked about our hopes and dreams and she went on to tell me her personal insecurities, I waited patiently for the right moment to quell her self doubt. She was on the brink of tears as she told me the story of her abusive ex and how she felt damaged by the experience. I reached down and held her closely as her sobs drenched me shirt. When she finally looked up at me, I tenderly brushed her hair away from her eyes and placed my hand on her cheek and I must’ve kissed her for a solid 30 seconds. It took both of our breaths away. She must have felt better about herself because she kissed me back twice.... that’s how my first kiss went down and I couldn’t ask for more!

Reminds me of two friends of mine. Eddie and Barbara met in kindergarten. Eventually they married. Barb was an operating room nurse and Eddie worked in accounting for the railroad. Eddie died a month before retirement and Doctors said he lived as long as he did because of the care Barbara was able to give him. A year later Barb died, her body literally eaten up with cancer. They had been inseparable in life, and essentially, Barb died taking care of Eddie. Eddie could make anyone laugh, and it was, as I found out taking care of her, that it was Barb who actually wrote the jokes and funny lines that came out of Eddie. They were quite a team...missed by everyone who came in contact with them.

I once played this song for a bunch of people who all said they didn't like country music. They all said they didn't like this song. The next day, every time I ran into one of them, they were either humming or singing the chorus from this song.

Ernest Potts waited for my mom to drop me off at school and he would carry my books to my class for me, lol. One day he kissed me on the cheek as he gave me my books back. George Strait actually has 60 #1 country hits. He managed to pass Conway Twitty (who was the king forever with 55 total) just a few years before he retired. He passed Conway at #50 and they both kept going for awhile after that until Conway's untimely death in 1993.

I married my high school sweetheart and I kept every single love note he wrote me since high school. We were married for 21 years and had two kids together. We did divorce in 1998 and he moved on and dated other people, but I never did get over that heartbreak and stayed single. He never remarried & he passed away in 2010. We always was flirty and all the stuff with each other until 3rd grade when we went our own ways. Changing schools and all that stuff. We met again after highschool at a family event and she proposed to me in secret and i declined.
