0:52 - It's a Digitech Whammy pedal. One of its effects is moving the original notes one octave up (or down). That's all. ; ) That setting was Joe and Mario's mother former arts studio (she died during the making of the album where this song is included), located in the house where they grew up in France. She was an artist and greatly inspired the brothers to pursue an artistic career: besides singing and playing guitar, Joe also plays drums and besides playing drums, Mario also plays guitar and paints. Btw, the female performer in this video is their cousin. : )

A lot of Gojira fans put this song (and the whole album, Magma) as their one of their least favourites. Not saying that it's bad at all, because it's definitely still awesome, but there was a large change in style between the previous album L'Efant Sauvage in 2012 (Born in Winter and The Gift of Guilt) and Magma (2016). As you rightly said yourself, the sound is a lot different. Magma is an album dedicated to Joe's (vocalist) and Mario's (drummer) mother after she passed from cancer so their creativity was obviously affected by the source of the inspiration.

Deadly thatya reacted to this one! The chorus riff to this is just so catchy and slammin'. It just a brilliant kick ass song, that alongside most other songs on the album "Magma", would be a bit easier to digest compared to the songs you have heard first. I will mention the band Pantera again here for ya- that "squealy" sound that grabbbed yer attention is a fantastic signiture of this song, and was used a lot too by Pantera back in the early 90s. The huge heavy grooves, and attitude from this song- if you liked that , then some Pantera will work for ya mate. Get shúilin; to "Walk" for a starters. By the way, yes indeed we are in loockdown now. Taoiseach made the right call, so lets just hope all the best for the time ahead. Regards mate, and tanks for putting out content to chat about and read others talk about here.

A Gojira you really need to listen to is Gojira - Global Warming [Live at the Silver Cord Studio May 2018] . It's a live-studio recording and it's absolutely phenomenal. Gojira LowLands is my low key new favorite. What's funny is you say you don't like the death metal growls but durring the chorus of this song you are banging your head along saying this is easy listning. I agree it's one of their most accessible songs, but you have to take a step back and realize how heavy it really is. Because you said that in the middle of "death metal" growls lol. Keep going dude you make some of the best reaction videos I have seen.

ok, so, info time: the album this song belongs to, magma, is the latest to date and the more easy going. you could check out silvera, pray, shooting star, magma, they're all good. the band was renamed from Godzilla to gojira in 2001, and the band members are -bass: jean-michel labadie -guitar: christian andreau -guitar/vocals: Joe duplantier -drums: mario duplantier the last two are obviously siblings, and some of the songs in this last album are more mellow because they reflect some of their feelings to the loss of their mother, like here in stranded or like in low lands. I would recommend checking their whole discography, but I'll do one per album for now: -terra incognita : clone -the link: remembrance - from mars to sirius: backbone -the way of all flesh: vacuity -lenfant sauvage: the axe live in london -magma: silvera keep rocking my dude, gojira is some of the best we got today ;)
