"The son" is actually the son of the bands fourth member, the late John Bonham, whose untimely death proved to be the end of the band. He's also using his dad's drums.

Their drummer John Bonham (nickname Bonzo) passed away at 32, in 1980. The band stopped playing when he passed away, saying they were a band of the heart & he was irreplaceable. Quite amazing to me. It reminds me of how Def Leppard waited for their drummer to learn how to play with one arm, before they returned to music. Nothing like true loyalty. This was Bonham's son playing drums in this performance. Also, Heart did a fabulous job covering this hit. If you have not heard the original, you should check it out too.

Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. This is one of the best tributes to Led Zeppelin with Ann & Nancy doing the classic song "Stairway To Heaven". No one else could have pulled it off as well. "Heart" have had so many great hits such as "Magic Man", "Crazy On You", "Barracuda", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc.

The Bowler hats are in Tribute to John Bonham, and Jason is wearing the one his dad use to wear.... Check out the Whole Tribule..... Hosted by Jack Black...... Robert Plant was very emotional because he had asked Jason to be up there with them in place of his father. Jason explained that he had a previous commitment that he couldn't back out of. The band members had no idea that his commitment was to be there playing his father's drum kit overwhelmed them.

The 35th 2012. Kennedy Center Honors presented awards to bluesman Buddy Guy, actor Dustin Hoffman, comedian and television host David Letterman, ballerina Natalia Makarova, and rock band Led Zeppelin for their contributions to the arts. ❤They were surprised by Jason (deceased drummer's son). He told the group he couldn't be there. Jason is also Robert Plant's godson. They are wearing the bolder hat in tribute to John Bonham. It was. Ot his son!!!!!!!.

The drummer was Jason, son of the deceased Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, who died in the 80s. I think 84. The emotional member in the balcony is the singer Robert Plant. Great tribute performance by Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. There was other bands that also performed in the tribute. I remember Lenny Kravitz and the Foo Fighters. Should check out the whole show.

It says first listen. I recommend watching the entire Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeplin. It’s my #1 fave YT video EVER! You’ll hear tunes you’ve heard before but didn’t know were them. Also in the audience: Yo Yo Ma, world renowned violinist/musician! David Letterman (Late Nite W DL) who was also honored that night. This recording is very special evidenced by the YT numbers! Oh, it’s simply Heart 💗

Led Zeppelin's lead singer, Robert Plant, was brought to tears because of the drummer, Jason Bonham. Jason is the son of John Bonham, the band's original drummer and Robert's best friend, whose death in 1980 resulted in the end of the band. They had invited Jason to represent his Dad at this ceremony honoring Led Zeppelin. But Jason told them he had a scheduling conflict. The conflict turned out to be walking out on stage to surprise the band by playing the drums during the tribute. Look at how surprised and happy Robert is when they introduced Jason at the beginning. The tears came as Robert thought about his friend and was sad he could not be there. It's also very poignant to watch Jason look up toward heaven, thinking undoubtedly about his Dad, as Anne sings the word heaven in last line of the song.

The Kennedy Center Honors, started by JFK and held at the Kennedy Center, are an annual event honoring significant contributions in the artistic fields. They have been traditionally hosted by the sitting President and First Lady (except during the Trump Administration), and are attended by the Cream of the Crop of A Listers.

Heart....BARRACUDA is One of their iconic songs. This performances t a tribute to honor Led Zepplin . The rainbow ribbons are a medal awarded to those performers who were the best of the best and made enormous contributions to the music world.I The guy playing the drums is the son of Led Zepplins drummer, John Bonham who is deceased. I believe that the band stopped playing after John died. The derby is something he wore, so as a tribute to him his son and the members of the choir all worn one. Ann Wilson has an amazing voice. One of the best around . Can't believe it took you this long to get around to this video. There are 2 other Kennedy Center Honors videos that I know about that you should check out. #1. Aretha Franklin's tribute to Carole King ( also during the Obama Administration). Aretha songs "A Natural Woman", written by C. King. =2. Is Behyounce's tribute to Tina Turner....

You might have already discovered this, but John Bonham wasn't there. He had a horrible death...he had serious trouble with alcohol, & was found dead after choking on his vomit. Jason did a great job performing in his dad's honor! Oh, & John Bonham was known for those bowler hats, so that's why his son & the choir are wearing them. Ann Wilson is A FORCE!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WATCHING her performance of "Beware of Darkness" at one of the tribute concerts for George Harrison. His son Dhani gathered a wonderful group of musicians to perform his dad's music. And Ann can just do it all!!

Their original drummer, John Bonham, died in 1980 and the group broke up. However, they got together one more time in 2007 for the live Celebration Day concert held in London's O2 Arena. Original members, Robert Plant (lead vocals), Jimmy Page (lead guitar), and John Paul Jones (bass and keyboards) were joined by the late John Bonham's son, Jason Bonham on drums. The whole concert is fantastic. Excellent audio, visual and performances. Even at their advanced age, they still killed it. My favorite performance of "Kashmir" is from this concert. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnWQfpefitJklbs It has over 150,000,000 views. Enjoy!
