A little background on Ren that I gathered from his posts and an interview. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. His illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours a day. Ren was initially diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, and joints. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. He is currently in Canada for more treatments and will have to be there for at least six months. Ren’s Canadian doctor discovered that Ren has also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder, which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals, and his bones. Ren stated: “It's a lot to wrap my head around having to be away from friends, family, and a successful career, and almost feels like a total juxtaposition to the fact that my music is blowing up right now and spreading to all corners of the world, but that's life, we take the good with the bad.” Let’s keep supporting Ren and not pull a “Sony” on him as he undergoes his treatment. Check out his channel, listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let’s lift Ren’s spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to this generation, and his work is needed in these troubling times.

Thank you SO much for putting this all together! I'm a blogger who wrote a long post about "Hi, Ren" that I published earlier this week and I'm now working on a part 2, focusing on the Reaction videos and I'd like to ask your permission to quote your summary here and I'll include your name and, of course, some gratitude. Let me know if that is okay. Meanwhile, here is a Friend Link to my first post---you'll see I very much agree with your conclusion here! As I wrote, "Ren uses his musical talent and skill, and his lyrical, musical, and visual storytelling to engage the listener as he fully inhabits wide-ranging characters from a place of deep empathy and profound psychological understanding. By doing this, he is breaking open the hearts of those who find his art, creating connections between us in a time when making heart-based connections may be the one thing that saves us from ourselves." bryanwinchell-japan.medium.com/hi-ren-examined-pt-1-the-overview-f0e247e4bd60?sk=30e19a6651455a212022847a731a7937

Indeed. Ren has made it clear that he wants people to enjoy his music, even if that's reactions. As an independent artist, he does whatever he wants with his content and we should encourage it. His entire collection of music is incredibly beautiful, even if it is not always technically accurate.

Great Reaction. Do Chalk Outlines.. I am I a human being My parents, I should thank There was no label on me Saying 'This one is a Freak' And thus I came Into this World A nameless, blameless, shameless soul Just glad to be alive To have a chance to make a mark On history's blank page The mark of an idiot The mark of a sage But sooner than I realized Came labels thick and fast Such as Irish, Catholic, Derryman And a prisoner of the past No sense of where I might belong Yet longing to be free I had to shed those labels To become the real me And so began a journey From a place of dark despair Of seeking out the gnostics Not knowing who they were Those whose wisdom and compassion Shone through each daily deed The mystics in our midst Who understood their brother's and sister's need Now when I see humanity At its best or at its worst I know behind the labels We were human beings first {C} 2003

🎶face to face with the beast i will rise from the east and settle on the ocean floor 🎶 this confused me at first because the wicked beast of Revelation is who rises from the east out of the ocean but... what i think Ren is saying is that HE 😠TOO will rise, plant his feet on the ocean 🌊 floor and FACE the beast 👹in BATTLE ⚔ also the hooting might intentionally (or unintentionally) allude to 'cuckoo' like in the famous mental health movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Next

The darkness is always there. But as time passes and we mature it’s true. We relax. We soften. We learn that what is meant to be is meant to be and we can’t change it. We just learn to except the darkness will always be there. But from within the shadows we can always see the light and we must fight to keep the balance not for victory. It will be ok ❤️

Not to sound religious, but to have walked in nature all my life, when dealing with culture, I see such devision in humanity. Carl Jung, I had thought said it best in saying, "Humans will do the most absurd things to keep from confronting there own duality of soul." This, "REN" however is next level, and relatable. Though I do not care to express my feelings on GOD or the Devil, I do however feel when listening to This song, and Ballad of Jenny and Screetch, that I am hearing the voice of something I can not call anything other then the Holy Spirit, as I feel conected to every reaction I watch, in seening so many Beautiful People reach deep inside themselves to Confront that DUALITY OF SOUL. Namaste for the Reaction. You made a Sub with it from me. Blessings and a Long Beautiful Road to You!

my connection to this song is only the similarity of struggle,, i'm undiagnosed autistic and have struggled with being a bit weird my whole life i had to start my own business because i had problems holding a job with sleep disorders and high ethics.. but managed to stay in business the last 40 years without needing to advertise or even carry a card, i run a lawn and tree service, a 1st responder thru 40 years of hurricanes in fla ,and do all phases of construction and kind of an inventor on the side, after six years of development i figured out a disaster response product that could help millions worldwide .. then my insurance agent forgot to post a payment back in 2020 and the state took everything i worked the last 40 years for away .. stuck at home like a prisoner i came online and saw people helping others so i started making videos explaining what i was. trying to do to get help, and found out if the platform your uploading to doesn't promote you your just talking to your phone, and then i see stuff like this and get jealous because i will never write a song that gets peoples attn like this. so my chances of bringing my ideas to the world are fading. and it's scary as hell to think of all that could be, but it may all be lost because one person forgot to hit enter on there keyboard.. and my chances of succeeding alone are close to those of getting out of quicksand alone..

Born in a universe of balance, duality personified, forced inside a tomb of flesh, and starting as a blank canvas, we are all capable of great love, and great hate, Satan and God intertwined in our existence. Artists often suffer from impostor syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this. It was a transformative experience for me… just as this song also resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk, *realizing* that you can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that you *know* you have-is sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

It's great on a lot of levels. For me the acting of the two personalities, to their two voices and the harsher more chaotic chords for the dark Ren, over to the lighter brighter chords for positive Ren was just so well-done. Then you see that it's being done in a one-shot take live take that isn't in some studio and it ups it in quality for me.

Your reactions would do better if you weren’t so distracted but I like your perspective

Yes!!! This annoyed me between her being distracted and too much going on in the upper and lower screen and the cc ,which is wrong and the flipped screen. Worst react I have seen, sorry.

My reactions do just fine, this was requested during a live stream. If I didn’t do this (distracted or not) I never would have seen it or been able to share his amazing talent.

It's a live stream folks. Not a typical reaction. These things happen.

Slow down there Chris Lawton. She doesn't need to React every 20 seconds for donations. And hold the song up for a minute. She just needs to wait until the end of the song. And make 20 second Reactions in between. I'm fixing to start doing this shit. Cause nobody needs you to hit the pause button to ramble for a minute.

I don't like when you react to videos when you're live streaming. You're very distracted, missing important parts and the donation thing that pops up squelches that part of the video when it happens... Just my humble opinion

Well this was requested by a sun during a live stream so if they hadn’t I never would’ve seen it and if I hadn’t recorded it (distracted or not) I wouldn’t have gotten to share his amazing talent.

Love this song, especially his message at the end. However at the beginning when hes singing take another pill boy, then sings about killing him if he kills the voice. Makes me wonder about my ptsd its torn everything that was me from me so if I ever get over it whats left?

You know sometimes there are songs you come across where you just let it play, wait until the end & not pause it every 20 seconds. Where your facial reaction can speak more words than your mouth does while the song is playing..
