"Do You Hear What I Hear?" is a carol composed in October 1962, with lyrics by Noël Regney and music by Gloria Shayne Baker. The pair, married at the time, created this carol as an appeal for peace during the Cuban Missile Crisis. This carol's lyrics recall the birth of Jesus and the events surrounding the traditional Christmas story.

This was a himm that was often sung at church around Christmas time were I’m from. To be blunt if you went to church around that time you would hear it every year. I don’t think it would be possible to escape hearing it, no matter how devoted or not you are.

As a child (and I'm old) we sang or heard this song often, but it was never one of my favorites. If Home Free hadn't been covering it, I wouldn't have clicked on the video, but I'm so glad I did. Now I can't hear it enough. That traditional version was nothing like this. Thank you, Adam Rupp, for the unbelievably beautiful arrangement, thanks to Home Free for sharing their tremendous talents with us yet again, and thank you, sir, for your reaction. Merry Christmas!

To me, this is the definitive cover of a song that's been covered so many times each year. Their treatment of it (rhythms, harmonies, dissonance, location) is the most unique I've ever heard. I have 2 tickets to the Des Moines, Iowa concert on Dec. 15 that I will be unable to use, if anyone would like to have them.

It was filmed at the Ice Castle in Eden Prairie,Minnesota. Each year the Ice Castle is built in a different location. Blocks of ice are cut out of the frozen lakes. That was a warmer winter so it melted quite a bit. The celebration is the St. Paul Winter Carnival, originally started out in St. Paul, the capitol of Minnesota. It's held at the end of January celebrating the winter. Look it up, it's fun. If you google St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Castles, you will see some magnificent ones with lighting. Can also go through them. We don't shy away from our winter frozen tundra. We celebrate all things outdoors, even in the dead of winter.

I remember the song mostly from Bing Crosby singing it. You might not recognize it because it is a very simple, quite repetitive Christmas carol... originally... Home Free went completely wild with this arrangement (Adam's doing) - they turned the simple melody into an incredibly complicated surprising masterpiece with unexpected twists and turns in every line. I literally went to listen to the song by Bing when I fist heard this to kind of confirm really it is the same one - I still can't imagine how they went from that to this. I am not a big fan of covers but I learned to be really exited to see what they come up with when HF makes a cover.

Could have been filmed in Gooseberry Falls or more likely Taylor Falls near Minneapolis, Minnesota. It freezes during the winter. Also we have ice castles and other ice structures that are carved during a winter festival. Ice carvers come from everywhere.

Big props to Tim and Austin, those southern boys, for filming this out in the frigid Minnesota winter. I believe they were at an ice castle in Mankato. Different cities in Minnesota often build ice castles, which then (eventually) melt away. The Rupp boys and Rob are all from Minnesota, so this probably wasn't so tough on them. I usually don't care for this song, but Home Free.....

It’s a Christmas carol I grew up singing. This is so beautiful. Adam, the beatboxer, arranged this version. It’s stunning…sort of a jazzy rendition. Of course Home Free killed it. This was filmed at an ice castle that is constructed (don’t know by who) in different parts of Minnesota. If you listen at the end of the video they’ll tell you a little more about it. This is so clever and beautiful. If you like bass you should listen to their new release Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits cover). It’s amazing. Tim goes super low (just so you know he cut his hair). Good reaction Taylor!

I'm listening to Home Free version as the song brings back a memory of my teen years. Jr. High/Middle school music class and our teacher with his beautiful baritone voice sang this to the class. It made me cry. I wasn't then and still, today at age 72, am not a religious person. I have no religion, no particular belief system. But I do appreciate good music, good, to great, to awesome singing voices and harmonies. HF did a good job. Not my favorite acapella group, but not terrible either.

YES, absolutely - definitely - 100% yes!!! John Berry’s version of O Holy Night has been my #1 favorite of that song for years. His song Your Love Amazes Me…..beautiful! I used to listen to it all of the time when our 4 sons were at home. When our youngest finally got a cell phone (after he graduated high school) he made Your Love Amazes Me as “my” ringtone.
