sorry no, never played the game tho i knew the game lore and i still think the music is epic on it's own.

Not what I exactly meant to say. Sure the OST is great on its own but the way it is implemented is very special in the game, it goes far beyond just putting on a boss track while fighting a boss. The tracks in the game are multi layered, reacting to the flow of the fight. It is really quite spectacular. You won't hear the track just running down from start to finish in the game. It is a very different experience. That is what I meant by it can't be "truly" appreciated without the game. Still, this wasn't meant to put down anyone's appreciation of the OST so sorry if that came across as condescending.

@@hhero4841 Sure, you can feel the epicness, but you can't fully appreciate the music like we do without experiencing the batsh*t insane rollercoaster of memes and emotions that is MGR:R, because the songs, and this one in particular, are made even better when you understand the story. The music stands out even on it's own, but it's when you combine it with the rest of the experience that it truly becomes legendary. Add to that the way it is so perfectly implemented dynamically, especially the boss themes, and it ascends even further.

There's an absolutely brilliant mashup of this song called "It Has To Be Ambiguous." It has vocals from Ambiguous, the theme of Kill La Kill. These two songs go so well together in every way, even the lyrics. Both songs are about finding someone - in this case, a worthy adversary - that's just like them, that can see their true selves, and can determine their own fates. Two badass sides of the same coin, meeting for one final, epic showdown. Definitely worth listening to.

Definitely you have to listen to every single boss fight song in MGR, not only they are giving atmosphere and tempo in actual game, but also be somewhat of a description of a boss, the best example is of Sam, where there are two states, one is without singers voice, and second with it. And that simple trick tells so much about that enemy it's crazy

The original Metal Gear gameline (Metal Gear Solid) has awesome songs too. My favorites are "The best is yet to come" from mgs, "Snake Eater" from mgs3 and "Heavens divide" from mgs: peace walker, but "Calling to the Night" from mgs: portable ops and "Sins of the Father" from msg5 are great too. But if you want to choose one to start with, go for either "The best is yet to come" or "Snake eater". Another recomendation would be the Persona games soundtrack. All the song are great, but I would go for "Burn my dread" from P3 first. It's like an opening to the game, so it has a short and long version.

Fun Facts: 1. Platinum Games is a studio made mostly of members from Capcom's now-defunct subsidiary Clover, notably Hideki Kamiya who had directed Devil May Cry (which had originally been pitched as a Resident Evil). 2. Platinum's Bayonetta and Capcom's DMC are like sibling series, potentially even sharing the same universe. This is due to a supporting character in Bayonetta matching the name and description of someone mentioned in a DMC comic years prior. 3. Platinum was at risk of bankruptcy up to the release of Nier:Automata, which then went on to become a colossal success and possibly one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time. 4. Hideki Kamiya was *not* involved in the development of Revengeance, and got annoyed from being asked about it so much online.

This song is from the final boss fight against Senator Armstrong. The song is from the Senator’s perspective. For context the Senator has respect for the main character and sees him as a peer, hence the parts about “we’re both the same.” However the two are on opposing sides of the conflict so it can’t be helped that one has to die. Hence “It has to be this way.” It’s a great boss fight and Armstrong is truly one of the best villains of video games in the last decade or two.
