Jackson is and has always been my favorite artist ( in every way) in my lifetime. His songwriting has always been so special, same with vocals, piano, guitar, and of course his work with "Mr,Dave". Just superb all around. I love him, i will be 68 soon, first heard him in the early 70's.

Jackson is a national treasure. As a lyricist, second only to Dylan in my opinion. Other songs of his that deserve a listen...."For a Dancer"...."Before the Deluge"..."These Days"....."For Everyman". WTF, just listen to everything the man ever wrote and recorded. Thanks so much for diving in

Running On Empty is not a studio album. It's one of the most unique live albums ever. Jackson did all new songs for this record. They were recorded on stage, backstage, in hotel rooms, and on the tour bus. Some songs were covers, some were co-written by band members. The band was a who's who of legendary musicians like David Lindley, Leland Sklar, Danny Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel. It's a great record

I saw Jackson Browne during the pandemic. He sat on stage with approx. 20 guitars set straight up behind him. For each song Jackson would pick up a different guitar and start playing. I never realized Jackson had so many great songs, though I did know The Pretender, Running On Empty, and a few others. At the end of the concert David Lindley came on stage for a couple of songs. What a surprisingly good concert.

My wife and I have seen him numerous times since the late 70s. In 2012 we were 2nd row center for his concert. He had 16 amazing vintage acoustics different tones and tunings so he could switch as needed for the song. If someone called out a song not on his planned set list that he liked, he'd switch guitars and play the request. His band could take that change all in stride. He is a fantastic performer and always has great musicians with him

JACKSON BROWNE: One of the best folk rock singer-songwriters. In addition to having composed for other artists and groups (including the EAGLES), his songs have been covered thousands of times. Even the prodigious French singer-songwriter FRANCIS CABREL did a magnificent French adaptation of the song "Rosie". Thanks.

Jackson Browne and Graham Nash were and are best friends. Nash even named his son Jackson after Browne. I don't think that Jackson Browne has ever written a bad song but if he did, it never showed up on any of his albums.

I’m sure my first JB song was “Doctor My Eyes” back on a 4-LP set “Superstars of the Seventies”. Wasn’t the biggest follower of his, but I know many of his songs, including the two from today. You’ve been giving me surprises all week so far! 😊

Those first 5-6 albums - he couldn't go a step wrong. Pure magic. Best of all; "Late for the Sky"- At the time Jackson Browne was music royalty - he could get pretty much every musician he wanted. But best of the bunch: David Lindley. He could play anything with strings. R.I.P... 😪

More great Jackson Browne: The Load Out/Stay Hold On Hold Out That Girl Could Sing Of Missing Persons Before The Deluge Tender Is The Night For A Rocker As with the songs on this video, great storytelling, superb piano and guitar. JB knows how to write a song, to understate RIP David Lindley(JB's longtime guitarist)

Good stuff! I wasn't really into Jackson Browne back in my high school days, and I'm not particularly now, but I never minded when his songs came up on the radio, and these days I hear them a little more favorably if for nothing else the nostalgia trigger since his music was always on the radio during my junior high and high school years. 😊 Of course it's really well crafted and performed music so I also appreciate those aspects.

Glad you enjoyed! Regarding Running On Empty: The entire album was recorded on the road…either in front of an audience, or in hotel rooms or on the bus. It was truly an “on the road” album. Regarding Jackson ….I know he can play guitar, but I’ve never seen him do it live…..he’s usually at the acoustic piano onstage. The keyboardist was Craig Doerge, another first-call studio guy and a close colleague with Leland, and Russ Kunkel and Danny Kortchmar….all three of whom toured with James Taylor. So on the tour, you had Leland, Drummer Russ Kunkel, Doerge, lead guitarist “Kooch” and lap steel slide played by David Lindley. I believe the first solo was done by Lindley and the second by Kooch. this album was nominated for two Grammies….one for best album of the year, (loosing to Billy Joel) and was on the charts for 62 weeks.

Jackson is a fine musician but his band always will include an excellent guitarist. He actually plays guitar quite often. A bit more acoustic than electric but I've seen him where he has anywhere from 15-20 acoustics (different tones and tunings) on stands off the side of the stage that he switches around throughout the entire concert. He has become known for altering the set list off the cuff when someone in the audience will request a song that hasn't been planned but he decides that he wants to play it.

Around this time, Jackson recorded "Doctor my eyes". Just as brilliant and relevant today as both these. Recently, Jackson, Leland Sklar and Russ Kunkel got together with Playing for Change to bring in some new friends to remake "Doctor my eyes". Russ and Leland played on the original 50+ years ago. Leland played that same bass. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIKzdWRtq5uYgrcsi=SyicFKyNVuxEpmVj Timeless music!!
