The term “daddy” was originally “daddy-0”, a term used by a lot of NY Jazz musicians in the 50s/60s. A lot of NY rappers got their slang from old heads from Brooklyn, Harlem, Queens, The Bronx etc etc. In the 80s in the hood they just shortened the term to “daddy”. If you didn’t grow up in that time around that area you’d think it sounded weird but it was basically a term of endearment used instead of calling each other the n-word. 🤷🏽♂️

I've always maintained that there are LEVELS to Hip Hop. There are emcees and there are ICONIC EMCEES, they are TIMELESS. These are the kinds of emcee's that are your favorite emcees'... FAVORITE EMCEE'S. Jadakiss aka J 2 Da Muah aka Da Last Kiss aka Mr. Raspy is one of them ones. Jada goes in that category to me with Method Man, Redman, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane', Rakim, L.L. Cool J, Ludacris, Black Thought, AZ, Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes...just to name a few. These gentlemen are ICONIC...decades from now even the A.I. Robots will listen to the lyrical skills of these cats. Also, let's not forget that Jada is 1/3 of arguably the best rap group to ever do it in the LOX (The only other group that could lay claim are The WuTang Klan, with OutKast looking in the window lol). Jada has been one of my favorite MC"s for years. FLOWERZ BEEN GIVEN YEARS AGO!!!!!!

The whole room usually knows alll the words. CLASSICS! You missed a great era in the culture. At least youre finding the music. As far as the album, i teter the line, when it comes to labeling this album, like I think many do. It was definitely a moment in time. Ran it to hell when it dropped, but there are too many tracks that didn’t age the best, to make it a official classic. The bars will always be there, but production, song format & content, is what tends to be what kills songs as they age, But we still appreciate the album. I’ve heard many put Kiss Of Death over this one

I agree that this album is not a classic, however it is very good and a solid debut from a great artist. This album suffered from the same label formula that all labels tried to use at the time. They were trying to sell major numbers so every album had to have a radio song, a club song, and a song for the ladies. Then on top of that Jada was trying to prove how versatile and nice he was by doing songs for every region, a dirty south song, a west coast song, a Midwest song. Jada definitely proved his lyrical prowess and dexterity, some of these songs aged way better than others.
