That's awesome for you! Addictive personalities have a hard time staying away. But I would like to know if you knew any non-addictive personalities around you? I only ask because I have walked away from every drug (and job) that my brain finds boring. I am one of the 10% that is non-addictive personalities and literally walked away from China White as well as red rose (I know you know what Im talking about) with no withdrawals whatsoever. I never judge on anything, and from what I know of my friends, you are a rarity and I applaud you 100%. I am in a weird place--I am an enabler but one who can walk away from anything which keeps me away from those who are not able to walk away..including my soul mate who I had to leave for that reason..there is nothing worse than being the a$$hole telling your other half to quit something you can walk away from with no issues. Keep your faith. If you do not have the ability to use soicially and walk away, dont do it.

Nice. Thank you for this. The "In Color" one was great too. He is one of the best songwriters alive. He writes about his life. The cell that he is talking about that is colder than the cell he was locked up in yesterday is life after living with what he lost from drugs. The high cost of living that people bitch about is nothing to what you'll lose from drug abuse.

This is considered modern day outlaw country music. People think all country music is the same but outlaw country music songs feature some of the real struggles that these guys went through. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson all have been in and out of jail in their lives and they feature songs about the struggles they endured.

What is high life? Because I look at Cascades and plateau's as a High for me. And I am and always will be a RELAY because I would and always ENJOY FAMILY AND FRIENDS SUCCEED. Even when I have to love them from a far.
@TheLwaller092 жыл бұрын
The song premise is basically that people that use drugs and drink and take it to the extreme to escape from their life and the anxiety/pressure they face from bills, their spouse, kids, work etc. is nothing compared to what it costs when that escape becomes it's own prison and you lose control and start to spiral. The high cost of living (everyday life) isn't anything compared to what it can cost you living high (living your life out of control like he was).

It’s about addiction and the “cost” of living that life. The cost to you as a person. You give up everything you love for the drugs and the lifestyle. The prison cell he his referring to is the prison that addiction locks your soul in.

I am a 59 year old functioning drunk . I never missed a day of work , made a lot money but lost my ex wife and grown kids to alcohol and staying drunk every weekend .. my aunt was a drunk .. it is a disease .. addiction sucks.. it transcends all peoples ..
