The phrase "You should've seen it in color" is another way of saying you should've been there or you had to be there in real life to really understand what it was like.

This song makes me think about my parents. They married in 1956, she was 15 and he was 17. They had five children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. They was married almost 62 years, my mother passed 6 months before their anniversary.

I make my kids learn what past generations endured. So many kids and young adults today complain about the pettiest things, and they have no clue what most people lived through. It's a good lesson needed to have strength and character. Our grandparents and great grandparents endured the depression, WW2, no conveniences, and they worked their butts off to build their lives.

One of my favorite memories of my grandparents is sitting with them and looking through the old photo albums. The stories of family history are priceless. With all the photos now being digital, I feel bad for the upcoming generations who won't have that experience.

Crazy to think how WWII was won by high school teachers, cab drivers, bookkeepers (my uncle), plumbers, garbage men, farm boys, construction workers, high school KIDS…just ordinary dudes, from all walks of life. They answered the call and saved the world. What an incredible generation.

One of my favorite songs. As a young child, I used to sit for hours and look at the pictures of my grandfather in Belgium during WW II. After my parents passed away, I got those photos. They are my prized possession. My wife had my grandfather’s Army Company’s photo framed for Fathers Day. It is proudly displayed above my desk in my home office. Great reaction! Love the channel!

I had this song played at my father's funeral. Every scenario in this song matched his life. He grew up dirt poor in Alabama (not unusual during the depression). Joined the navy at 17, fought in the Korean war and then got married. He worshipped my mom and she felt the same way about him. He worked 2 or 3 jobs to take care of us & provide opportunities for us to have choices. I always loved him but I've come to realize what a truly great man he was. Not in a big way, just in who he was. Fear, bravery, love. It's the story of his life.

"You can't see what those shades of gray keep covered; You should have seen it in color." such a profound lyrical statement, a powerful song. I really enjoyed your reaction, thanx👍 Here's another band to check out, in case you're interested "Rod Stewart - Your In My Heart (From One Night Only)" Stewart is a British rock and pop singer/songwriter. He has a distinctive raspy singing voice that send the goosebumps running. Stewart is among the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 250 million records worldwide.

Jamey is by far a member of the country trifecta- Jamey, Willie, and Chris Stapleton. I have seen him six times in concert. No flashing lights and fancy stage tricks. It’s all about the music. He is an ex marine and doesn’t take anything from anyone. Find the video where he blasts a radio station for coming onto his stage and invited to talk to the crowd before he came out. His motto is that he has an agreement with the radio stations. They don’t play his music and he doesn’t listen to theirs.

While the convenience of snapping a picture with my phone is amazing, for the photos that matter, I pop a roll of film into a camera. Most recently I've started getting into home developing. I took several family portraits this summer and made prints in the dark room from the negatives and sent the photos back out to those family members. There's just something about that old process of taking photos prints that's just a bit more special, more intimate, that adds to the memories. Special moments deserve that kind of attention. And taking photos with black and white film invokes other feelings and emotions as well. Probably half the photos I take are on black and white film.

People now take photos with their phone and don’t have a clue that photos for their parents and grandparents actually took planning and effort. I’m not old enough to know the exclusively black and white era, but I was in my 20s before cameras were on flip phones and nearly 30 before smart phones were a thing. If we wanted to have picture we had to plan ahead and have a camera with us. If not it was all just a memory.

To complain that it takes hour or two. To send video from one side of the country to the other. After listening to this song is irony at it's finest. Back in the times of this song. It took weeks, maybe months to get a information over the same distance. To think how far we have come. Grandparents primary mode of transportation when young was horse and buggy. Now they could go up in space. All in one lifetime. Not to mention the instant communication. Anywhere in world. Grandparents couldn't even call their neighbors.
