Took me until my mid 40’s to give country music a chance. Living in Chicago, it just wasn’t cool and I thought it wouldn’t have any relevance for my life. 💜💜💜 But the singer/songwriters are some of the best storytellers.

Country music is the realist music that anyone can listen to Because it’s mainly stories about people’s lives and their experiences they’ve been through Country music and the Blues both came from gospel music and that’s why it’s so relatable and makes you feel the music

Y'all wanna really dig deep? Check out anything by Townes van Zandt. He wrote "Pancho & Lefty," recorded by Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard. Townes wrote a song about homelessness, one of the most devastating issues that face our country, that'll break your heart. It's called "Marie." Another great one is "Rake." He died way too young, from having bipolar disorder and using substances to ease his pain. There's also a great documentary about him on youtube.

You guys do this reaction genre justice. Went down the Zepplin rabbit hole with you and a few others. I listen to a lot from Metal to punk, rap to rockabilly. I can hardly listen to modern country, it lost its soul somewhere. Grew up on old country from my grandparents. I love that feel and sound. Jamey is one of those few that gets it. Great lyrics and a voice to match. His band kicks ass also. Waylon Jennings is a legend with a unique sound, voice and Guitar. Give him a listen you will be impressed.

Great review. I am not a fan of country music at all but they write great storytelling songs. Guys, I would love to see you review the video of Amy Lee singing Zep's Going to California. My mind was blown watching and hearing her sing it. Love all your reviews and perspectives on different genres of music. If you want to hear a great country storytelling song, I highly recommend Harper Valley PTA video made in the late 60's. Love your channel and I check it everyday for new content. 🥰

I don’t think Jamie Johnson did. This one is called Tennessee whiskey. There’s three versions of Tennessee whiskey. The original version is by David Allan Coe, the second version is by George Jones and the third version I can’t remember who did it it might be Chris Stapleton, but it’s got a great great one of the third one.
