Thanks for checking out our Jethro Tull reaction. This song was very interesting. Locomotive Breath was not exactly what we were expecting. Then again, it's impossible to know what to expect with an artist you've never heard lol.

Jethro Tull is a band you should really get to know through the studio recordings before you can appreciate their live music. Ian Anderson's voice is much more nasal in the live performances. Ian Anderson (the singer) in a freakin' musical genius. He can also play nearly every instrument in the band as well. The studio is definitely the way to start off with Tull. They add so much energy and showmanship to their concerts that a first-timer can easily get lost on a live take.

EVERY member of Jethro Tull can play many instruments. I saw them live in Sydney in the early seventies. They paused between songs, Ian said they were going to play "Round Robin". Keyboard player went to drums, drummer went to guitar, guitar to keyboards and so on, then changed the next song (and the next, and the next) until they were back to their own instruments, and played one more song. The band left the stage. Audience thought it was a great show, and it was over. No. Ian Anderson's head, complete with bright pink bowler hat, poked through the backstage curtains, dragged a stool up to the microphone, tapped it amateurishly, blew into it (Is this thing on?). Said "I'm Arnold Stirrup, your support act". He played two or three acoustic numbers, the band rejoined him, and they played for another 30 minutes. BEST.LIVE.CONCERT.I.HAVE.EVER.SEEN. EVER!!!!!

The band was named after Jethro Tull (1674-1741) Tull was an English agriculturist who perfected a horse-drawn seed drill in 1700 that sowed the seeds in neat rows, and later developed a horse-drawn hoe to weed between the rows. Tull's methods were adopted by many landowners and helped to provide the basis for modern agriculture.

Yup, Ian Anderson, despite his front man wild appearance in the 60's and 70's, was pretty clean living, he didn't even drink that much and was critical of drug abuse, which he found was a distraction from, and hinderance, to the music. The direction of the band, and the weight of song writing and producing, has been down to him and his ability to stay focussed and creative all this time. The often changing line-up of the band over the decades however has seen a few of his bandmates indulge in the hedonistic sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll life style with relish, sometimes with fatal consequences.

A group of pirates! Epic! Jethro Tull is sort of their own genre. Ian Anderson is the singer the band is Jethro Tull. Basically, a lot of their music is rock music mixed with medieval type music and or themes. If you ever go to one of those renfairs, with the knights and Kings and maidens their music is like that but with guitars. But sometimes they don't even have the guitars. And you would think that would make them niche but actually, they were huge in the 70's. They have lots of hits that any self respecting rock music fan from the 70's would know well. They are amazing musicians and unfortunately you did not get one of the better concert recordings to sample them.

Jethro Tull is the band - they are named after the inventor of the seed drill. The lead singer / flautist is Ian Anderson. Their genre ... rock, sometimes a bit of prog rock, sometimes almost English folk rock - and possibly more.

Im pretty sure that a previous person made this comment to you guys, but I totally agree with them. There are lots of songs (bands) where listening to the studio version of a song 1st, so that you get to hear the way the song truly sounds, how it is actually arranged, allows you to appreciate it more when hearing/seeing it live for the 1st time. But anyway, my actual comment was this- I think it's HELLA COOL that such a BADASS band has a lead singer who plays the FLUTE! I know he can basically play any instrument, but the flute is pretty rare. WOW!

This genre is folk ballads, theatrical production, story-telling. Ian Anderson on the FLUTE, the 'wild ' expressive eyes, best in the world like Jimi # 1 guitar. They are from Scotland. Anderson taught himself, plays many instruments, massively talented, dancing are Scottish country dancing moves.

Long story telling and changing musical arrangements. With folk rock in there, too. Love the reaction. As a life long Tull fan, I’d say they are a really tough group to categorise. Certainly they are part of the ‘prog rock’ generation, but as Ian Anderson once said, they are just a very loud folk group. Their roots I would say are in British folk, with a good dose of blues and more rock too. Their albums are very different, probably Songs from the Wood, and Heavy Horses are closest. Look forward to hearing more reactions 😍

During the last song of every concert, they bring the big balloons out for the audience. The final instrumental part of this performance is taken from the song "Black Sunday" from the "A" album.

You two are such a cute couple with fun reactions! Yes, I’m late to your game but hey, I’m here now. I did see Jethro Tull in concert back in the day and the start of the video was probably a transition between songs as the beginning of this song started later - Lex got that off the bat. Being a concert, this was way different than the studio version as they played it out a lot more here as was the case of rock concerts then. The flute? He was famous for it. I loved your surprise seeing the flute. Piratey? Yeah, lol, I can see that. An English band so more like low end (kind of like east enders) and the costumes were probably more reminiscent of the late 1800’s style at the docks. Fun times.
