Kansas is one of the greatest bands i have ever seen. I am from kc so when they first came on the music scene i was blown away their musical talent the songwriting the transitions were unbelievable. The vocals the harmonizing were so impressive i became a fan for life i consider them the ultimate jam band.Dust in the wind is another of their most popular songs but another of my favorites is the wall try listening to play the game tonight, magnum opus, icarus-borne on wings of steel, hold on the list is incredible

Born in Kansas in 1966. Got this album for my 10th b-day. Because they were from the state, they got played everywhere! They lost the violinist/vocalist this past July at 71. They’ll never sound the same without him but they do still tour.

The leasd singer of the group was Steve Walsh. In the video he plays organ and congas. He was by far one of the best rock voices to come out of the 70's. He retired from thr group in 2014 but has.in recent years released some solo material. His voice has changed a bit over time but still arguably has an impressive range for someone who is now 72. One of my favorite all time vocakists. I loved his range and timber. The group was long eegarded as an.American offshoot of progressive rock and differed from British progressive rock groups like Genesis and Yes. Ironically, they cite King Crimson, another British prog rock group as one of their major influemces. Their sound was arguably a hybrid of mid western folk, hard rock, jazz, r&b, and bits from other music genres mixed in.

Big Red is playing the tambourine. He plays a violin in Dust in the Wind. Steve is playing keyboard & bongos. This performance is a masterpiece. I was fortunate to see them live in an orchestra hall where the acoustics were perfection. The entire concert was phenomenal. They recorded it in 1976. I saw them in 1977 in Detroit. One of the best concerts I ever went to and I went to a lot in the 70s & 80s.

1976. Carry on is probably one of the most "accessible" songs they do. The entire Leftoverture album is great. The Wall, Miracles out of Nowhere, Cheyenne anthem, Magnum Opus. The others songs are great too. Earlier than this reaches into "proggier"material. Song For America, Journey from Mariabron. Great songs from Point of Know Return album which followed Leftoverture, Kanas starts getting more radio friendly after this. Not bad just different. Great band with so many great songs.

Kansas is one of my favorite bands. You should check out "Kansas - Point Of Know Return (Official Video)" and "Kansas- Dust In The Wind(Official Video)." But you should give "Styx - To Much Time On My Hands" a listen. Because this band is from Chicago and started out in the 1970's. They are another iconic band of the era. Looking forward to hearing what you think. Have a nice night and thanks.

i am 53, so this band and others have been with me for almost all of my life...I remember these being played on Vinyl on the bus radio back and forth to school...8tracks...cassette tapes. It thrills my heart that they are being discovered by younger generations through reaction videos. Other Kansas classics: 'Pont of No Return', 'Dust in the Wind', 'Play the Game Tonight', 'Fight Fire with Fire' and 'Hold On' are at the top. If they are unfamiliar to you, Bands like Boston, Styx, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Rush, Asia, Chicago and Journey have a similar feel and quality to their music.

Before you go any further, "Dust in the Wind" is your next, obvious choice for "Kansas"....a band going on their 45th year in the biz. Their latest, out in 2020 is their best IMHO in a few years. "Carry On...." will leave you reeling but "Dust....." will leave a permanent imprint on your soul. So, so different than "Carry.." but that is Kansas for you.

I worked for the band as a bongo technician. I would transport and tune-up the bongo kits and be on hand if there was a rip or tear. I’d have to refit the skins on the fly during a show at least two or three times.

Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks Colorado(God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 300 miles each way. Hell yeah.😎😎😎😎 I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (Harrah's former outdoor venue) Still killin' it. I still have this LP./Album. "Point of Know Return" and "Dust in the Wind" are two other deep songs from that era 45 years ago. They're still played on classic rock radio. "Surely Heaven waits for you".😇

I am sure that U have gotten more info on Kansas, just a little back story. They started from Topeka, KANSAS, with that comes some of the song for all ages, I'm the in 90's my kids and my wife we were always on thre road jamming to most everything from the 70's when I was a teen, but this song and Dust in the wind from Kansas will be played ar my Funeral, when this song first appeared that I almost believe they spyed on my life, everything they sung was almost had to do with the Bibbut not, the lyrics are almost something U would read on Psalms of Proverbs, I Had a 69 Charger or My 70 Challenger Cruising with thus blaring, this is when everyone had a badass car and McDonald's was jammed packed with teens on Friday and Saturday night, just wish it was that way now. Anywho, this particular song Carry on my wayward son almost did no happen. 1 of their guitarist come one evening with three different riffs, played them on the guitar two of them, which the band liked, the third was the riff for Carry on, the guitarist said I have one more ( this wS before the lyrics) he told them he had another one to play, but did think they would like it. So they said let us hear it, and the rest is history. If U haven't Bern told these songs are, Dust in the wind, point of no return, miracle from no where,Cheyenne anthem, Power, the wall, plsy the game tonight, these are just a few of many fantastic work of theirs. Last but not least, if U never heard some of the other groups from the 70 & 80's, I would suthese. First a bad ass group "Boston, Heart, Bon Jovi, the scorpions The Eagles which is the badass group that has Hotel California one of the top most played most bought songs ever, they sold thus Song more than any other. Journey, Fleet Wood Mac. Just to name a dew. U will kit go wrong with these bands. Heart has written more songs than probably all these groups, Anna & Nancy Wilson sisters, Anna Wilson had received a award for the top female vocalists of all groups for the last 100 yrd. God Bless
