Greatest of all time? You got my vote. I think if you asked people, "what is the quintessential song of the 70s?" some people would answer, "Stairway to Heaven," some would answer, "Hotel California," but this one is THE quintessential song for the era.

Great musicians, great vocals. These guys were something different in the 70’s for sure. 🎼🎶🎤🎹🔥🎸😎 Here’s love❤️for great reactions and great music. If you want a great band with 3 guys doing it all- check out Triumph- Lay it on the line. Canadian band, like Rush....mega talented guys and they’ll knock you over with their energy too. Vocals are up in the ionosphere high, guitars lit and the drummer sings back up and sometimes lead too. That’s a rabbit hole, fair warning you might want more of them too.....enjoy! 🤘😎

If you'd like to add another jewel to your greatest songs list, please consider reacting to the live version of Little Feat with the great Lowell George and the Tower of Power horns doing "Spanish Moon." One of the best bass lines in 70s rock, Hammond organ work that will make you weep, those horns, and George's vocals are not to be missed.

I used to think it was the lead singer( Steve Walsh) as well that converted to Christianity in 1980 but turns out it is the blond guitarist, Kerry Livgren, who wrote the song; with so many members it can get confusing.

There are some perfect songs. Like you said about Steely Dan's Home at Last. Some songs are just put together like a perfect puzzle. Everything is right where it should be. This is like 7 great songs compressed into one. So, no, you are not wrong when you say this is one of the greatest songs ever created. Hell, it's practically the theme song that carried 15 seasons of Supernatural.

The song has layers of talent. Many hits by them.No argument from me on one of the greatest songs ever...timeless I say.Try “ Miracles OutOf Nowhere” and “ People of the Southwind”....Damn,do anything because they were so far ahead of their time it was ridiculous with their progressive Prague style.Their most famous song next to this one is probably “ Dust in the Wind.”

I believe the Christian band you mentioned covering this song was the man that wrote it. Kerry Livgren, founding member of Kansas and chief songwriter. He was in search of spirituality at the time. He became a born again Christian and eventually left the band.

You are not at all overstating how great this song is. In my opinion they have many. This is band whose lesser known songs and early albums are greater than the songs most people know them for, this song being the exception. Watch some live Kansas from 1975 doing the Pinnacle. There is insane vocals to end that song.
