As for bands named after places, there is a band called "America". Some really cool tunes there. A band called "Europe" had a few hits. Then there was "Asia". Some called them the first 'super-group'. Kansas' entire album "Leftoverature" was great.

The song makes you really realize how insignificant you and everything you do is in the long run. Even everything that happens in your life means little because it is just a nanosecond in time compared to the age of the planet and universe itself. Comparatively, the Earth itself is a speck in the universe. Such a beautiful and uplifting song.

My dad was NO fan of Rock music. Although he would buy me albums for occasions. But somehow he heard this song and fell in love with it!!! Maybe it was our Catholic upbringing. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust..." He wanted it played at his funeral, but my sister refused and she was boss. She was his caregiver. So, in Italian/American tradition "Ave Maria" was sung.

Ave Maria I can't believe she snuffed his last request like that, damn. Smh. *Note Ave Maria used here is equivalent to 'darn it' in speech vernacular in Latin circles, for those who've never heard it used that way before.

Please understand there's kind of really two Chicago's the early Chicago had a lead guitarist named Terry Kath who is like no other and really gave the band a different kind of edge.. Don't get me wrong they still produce some fantastic music after Terry passed I actually have seen them live four times but was never lucky enough to see them with Terry and I have to tell you the music with Terry just blows away the other Chicago in my opinion

Chicago "Saturday in the Park" would be a great place to start. Also "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" and "You're The Inspiration". They have a huge catalog. Kansas is Awesome! The only thing I dislike about Dust in the Wind is that it's not longer. I could listen to that violin for a very long time. Lol. I Love the violinist/singer Robby Steinhardt. Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks, CA(God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 600 miles round trip with roughly $1.00 gas I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (former Harrah's outdoor venue) in 2018. Still killin' it. I still have this LP./Album. Carry on Wayward Sun. Point of Know Return. "All your money won't another minute buy".

There are a lot of great Chicago songs. I would recomend you try the song "25 or 6 to 4". I like this theme "Bands named for Cities". Kansas "Dust In The Wind" was huge on the radio in 1976, even my Mom knew about this song. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for you to get back to The Who! It's past time for your third Who song. Find out if youre going to be a "Who fan"? The Who caused many musical transitions since 1965, they need more than just two or three reactions.

“Chicago” began as a band called “Chicago Transit Authority”. What about “Blood, Sweat and Tears”? What about “Three Dog Night”? “The Moody Blues”? “Emerson, Lake and Palmer”? “Earth, Wind and Fire”? “Jefferson Airplane”? What about the first mixed gender and mixed race band ever to chart in the Billboard 100, “Sly and the Family Stone”?

The violin duet I believe was played by a member or members of the band. That reminded me that many 70's rock artists were actually classically trained, particularly keyboard players. I think the first Biblical reference is from Ecclesiastes ( pronounced E - clee- zee- AS - tees), written by King Soloimon.

They had great album covers in general. And really you should do the title track from this album, also a huge hit and just a fantastic song. It's so cool, and it's got the harmonies that you like but it's really Up Tempo with a lot of organ and the story is amazing. And it gets it a wayward son in a way almost like a different look at the character in that other song, and this person has left his family and his friends and his home he's going to push it and he's from the age back where they believe the Earth was flat and that at some point where all the oceans poured off the edge of the earth, that's where the worst monsters work that have done in ships and crew and his family is really worrying about him. It's a perfect allegory for a lot of things. As far as chicago, most people would probably tell you that 25 or 6 to 4 would be the Gateway and I probably agree. But the early stuff in particular is just mind blowing. They damn well deserve to be Chicago and in fact they're very first name of their band on their first album was Chicago Transit authority. And then they shortened it to chicago. Saturday in the park, feeling stronger every day, smile, these are all songs that you would totally dig in there are a whole lot more.

The outside stuff doesn't matter, it's the inside stuff that does that carries over to everyone you love while here. How we love and treat others matters so much more than outside things that mean nothing when it's all said and done. And that is what is changing here now if y'all are paying attention...this earth has been so low frequency is was totally focused on material things and ego based lifestyles that is going to change.

CHICAGO has a 50 year catalog that you won’t believe. Each decade CHICAGO kept reinventing themselves, to the delight of literally billions of fans alive or not. Love BOSTON. Love KANSAS. But CHICAGO produced 100x the amount of music than the other two combined. Love CHICAGO, but your first introduction should be “MAKE ME SMILE” which is early CHICAGO (1968?), with earliest lead vocals. All soul. Peter Cetera was the lead singer from the late 70s through 2000s. He was much higher in voice, but also provided the high background vocals early on.

I have a suggestion - since you listened to Cream, and you're kind of on this classic rock journey, you should listen to Layla by Derek and the Dominoes - let it sink in, and then the following episode do Clapton's unplugged version of Layla (from the unplugged album - where you can hear the audience in the recording). Two VERY distinct versions that just live independently of each other. PLEASE!!

Maybe a little off topic, and this band is a different genre and later era, "Better Than Ezra" came up with their name in a very unique way. At a battle of the bands , where I believe all the bands were competing with some kind of monetary prize, they ran into a band with the same name as theirs, which at the time was Ezra! Well they ended up winning the battle and changed their name to "Better Than Ezra" because of course they were better than the other band with the same name. Hope I didn't waste anyone's time lol but kool story imho have a great one people!
