Lionel Richie wrote this for him, and Kenny credits him right at the beginning of this performance. You should definitely listen to Kenny's song Coward of the County. It inspired a movie and tv series etc. And also, try listening to The Gambler, if you want to hear more of Kenny. He was amazing, may he RIP.

My dad was the biggest Kenny fan, but who wasn’t back then? He’d play his songs on his guitar and my two sisters and I would sing along with him when we were little. Kenny’s always been a favorite of mine because he reminds me of my dad, who passed when I was 13.

Old white lady here- I have misty eyes right now. Watching these five beautiful young men challenging themselves to opening their minds to music which crosses generations, genres and cultures just makes me so damn happy. You’ve gained a fan today💕🥰😘 Oh, also- try listening to Kenny singing “Ruby” when he was a member of the pop group The First Edition. It’s a song which gives the perspective of a wounded Vietnam War Veteran. I think you’ll love it!

@@barrydlewis7768 The likely assumption is the songwriter’s reference to “Crazy Asian war” was meant to be Vietnam. This song was first released by Waylon Jennings in 1967, during the time US combat units joined in the Vietnam war, 1965-1973. The US was involved in the Korean War from 1950-1953.

you guys are so incredible for your efforts in looking and finding all these old songs.... I respect the fact that you all can sit together and being so much younger than I .....(which is nothing wrong with that:)) but listening to songs and music that is not played very much anymore:)... my children are about your ages... and i unfortunately cannot get them to listen to older songs that I grew up hearing... you are all an example of willingness and accepting music that is different to what my children grew up with and what you grew up with. Maturity and patience I see in all you young men and most of all...FUN! I truly enjoy listening and watching you young men studying and exploring the past .... I was not so willing when I was your ages, to listen to my parents music.... BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET THE DAY I WAS IN HALF DAY KINDERGARDEN AND MY MOM AND I WERE IN THE KITCHEN MAKING DINNER FOR DAD BEFORE HE GOT HOME.. Didn't expect to see you guys react to Kenny Rogers, and if I did I wouldn't have guessed it would be "Lady." Great singer, corny at times but good at what he did and could moisten every pair of panties in the house when he was really on. This was a weird time in music when country, r&b, and soft rock all merged into a blob of inoffensive romantic mush. A lot of it was cheesy but some beautiful songs came out of it.

My Husband had that gravel in his voice, he did all of Kenny's songs, Bob Seger, Elvis, The Gambler was one one of his most requested songs. He was a professional Musician all of his life, and one hell of a bass player! I miss hearing, and seeing him perform. This brought back memories, Thank You!

Lionel is such a magnificent writer and human being. Kenny is a grand singer from the days of Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. G-d bless them both. Thanks for listening, guys.
