My mother dedicated a Kenny Rogers song "through the Years" to my father before she died at 36 years old. My father used to play Kenny Rogers a lot because it reminded him of her. He finally joined her and passed away 32 years later and two days after the anniversary of her passing away. So Kenny Rogers always reminds me of my parents.

I saw Kenny Rogers in Atlantic City, on the Boardwalk, when his band was “Kenny Rogers and the First Edition”. Nobody seemed to know who they were, (I DID!) and I was blessed to be standing right in front and was thrilled! This was around 1968 or 69. Loved him since I first heard his voice!

Kenny was originally part of the First Edition rock band before going solo. They had some great songs in the 60’s and 70’s like Somethings Burning, Just Dropped In, and Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town. They even had their own tv show I remember watching every week when I was a teen. They were funny and played great music.❤️

Didn't expect to see you guys react to Kenny Rogers, and if I did I wouldn't have guessed it would be "Lady." Great singer, corny at times but good at what he did and could moisten every pair of panties in the house when he was really on. This was a weird time in music when country, r&b, and soft rock all merged into a blob of inoffensive romantic mush. A lot of it was cheesy but some beautiful songs came out of it.
