It's a true story of Johnathan Davis, the lead singer, under his direction before recording he knew he would break, and told them to continue recording no matter what he does. This is a real life grown man broken on vinyl for the world to hopefully open their eyes and protect our children

No one is ever ready to hear this song for the first time, And no one ever forgets the first time they hear this song. Also lead singer Jonathan Davis was actually genuinely crying at the end of the song. I hope for everyone who has been through traumatic experiences like this, I hope you are happy and well.

As horrible as the topic of this song is, I have to say that this song is honestly one of my favorite songs from Korn. Not only does it bring awareness to sexual assault, it brings the awareness to sexual assault on boys. And that's something that needs to be brought to the light so that boys who do go through or have gone through atrocities like this don't have to be afraid to seek help and know that they are not alone

This song saved my life. I was 12 when I discovered Korn, this was 1998. And it was the first time I didnt feel alone in my hell. SA at 4 and again from 10-12 stopped when I got my period. That whole ass album helped from bullying in school and home to the SA. I went years with the only physical touch I received was abuse. I was ready to die but Korn helped me compartmentalize my pain. Feel blessed that you cannot relate. Feel blessed my dude.

it's 100 Jonathan Davis's experience. It wasn't a parent though, it was a family friend/babysitter. This is more about how his parents didn't believe him and how we should believe abuse survivers. the crying was real and it took him over 10 years to ever sing this song again. during this crying the entire band was holding him after singing it the first time. Comforting him and trying to help him be ok.

That's exactly the point Shon. No one wants to hear about it because it's so monstrous. But it needs to be talked about and needs much stronger laws and sentences. The perpetrators are usually family members, friends of the family, authority figures, clergy and people who see the same children on a regular basis. They want the trust of the family and the child's trust so the abuse can continue. A parent or guardian never wants to believe that their child had to endure abuse or that a trusted adult would do such a thing. It's easier to disbelieve than to confront the fact. Also, young children might not know the words to describe what happened and fear they may be blamed. In some cases, a survivor might k!ll an abuser when they are older and more capable of defending themselves. This would probably not be considered self-defense in court because it is after the fact. Even though they're lives have been ruined. Most cases are never reported.

Unfortunately this kind of thing happens to children way too often, in one scenario or another... Daddies, mommies, uncles, friends, doctors, teachers... Same stories with different characters. Jonathan is braver than me. Took me decades to say anything to anyone. But I think for him this song was cathartic, and it can be so also for some who have been through this.

I love this song. It's not a song I put on among friends even if I know they will vibe with it. Mostly because if I'm listening to music with friends there's usually a certain vibe already and this will change the whole goddamn evening. It'll change your whole day. This is a song to listen to on your own. At certain times. I bought this album when it was brand new and this song still shocks every time I hear it. Everybody should hear this song, but once is probably enough for most people.

Daddy is not typically a "recreational" song but it can be extremely moving and cathartic for anyone who has suffered through this. As others have explained, yes this did really happen to lead singer, Jonathan Davis, although it was not his father as the song suggests, it was a family friend/babysitter and his parents didn't believe him. Kudos to you for even getting through the song cause a lot of people can't because it's too upsetting and uncomfortable but it's supposed to be because it's showing the damage that can be done when something is swept under the rug.

It’s not about the enjoyment of hearing the song. It’s about getting the pain out and knowing others went through the same thing. I’m a 41 year old dude. I went through a similar situation. A “friend” of the family molested me when I was 4 or 5. My parents thought I was not telling complete truths when I said something about it. Then that same person tried the same with my little sis and the daughter of one of my mom’s oldest friends. They came forward and all the parents around the neighborhood had enough and a couple other kids came out with stories. He ended up going to prison where he got shanked up. I dealt with that betrayal for most of my life. Went through so many times of depression (still do), slipped into bad alcoholism. Became a very violent person who took my rage out on people who cared about me and messed up many relationships. I’ve since cleaned myself up, try to handle my rage in better ways, and try to be a better person. It’s still tough everyday.

He did this song because he felt like he needed to, for himself and others. The singing at the end was his sister calming him down. It also helped thousands of people in the world by letting them know theyre not alone.

The woman who you heard at the end was literally his step sister who would sing that very exact song to sing him asleep to calm him down. He literally told his band to keep playing no matter what. And they did for a while. This song was on their first album. But Jonathan couldn't sing it live until about twenty years later. For most people it's traumatic just to hear it. For those of us who have been through it. It's healing.

It's pretty obvious the topic of this one, and it's by far the most difficult one to listen to. I'd say check out "F*get" when you get a chance. It's a bit of a middle ground. Song's badass. And of course, as always.... let's get some "King Crimson" in the mix!

This is absolutely based on a true story. Lead singer went to his parents to let him know he was being molested by a family friend back in the late-1970's to early-80's who ended up laughing it off and thinking he was joking around. The song wasn't played live for a good 25 years due to the emotional baggage. He did later comment on the song, saying the person who'd molested him had died, saying "Karma's a bitch". He was the only one to know what was truly going on with the song as he'd given the band the parts to play the day of recording and told them to keep rolling no matter what. As you can tell, the band members were as shocked as anyone when they realized what was going on and gave a group hug once recording finished. As for the singer, the woman's name is Judith Kiener, a woman who worked at a workshop the mother of the album's producer attended. The song she's singing is "When I Awake" by Pramhansa Yogananda.

Yeah man, it is as real as it sounds. By far, the most disturbing thing I've heard, and most of people who have heard it say the same. The story behind this song, is that Jonathan Davis, the singer, was sexually abused as a child by someone close to his family, that was his babysiter. And he screamed for help to his parents who didn't pay attention. That's why he makes so many references to his mom on the song ...

It is very hard to listen to this song without the backstory/context. The lead singer (JD) was sexually abused for years by a family friend/babysitter. His parents didn't believe him or wouldn't take action. I know the lyrics are confusing at first, "F^ck your own child" not physical/sexual but "F6ck over your own child". The important things to know are: it is based on his real life experience, the intention of the song is for him to bring this to light so he can begin to heal, and lastly this song alone has saved many lives. Other abuse victims took strength from this song and came forward and got the help they needed. So, in that end, JD and Korn were successful in releasing this tremendous piece of artwork.
