Yes…”we” didn’t realize that this music we loved “then”-would become timeless. I believe that Black musical creation (like these songs) started to suffer when music programs started to be eliminated from schools. Thus began the era of “sampling” the music of others; and not contributing to our collective musical well. What do you think?

I was 14 about to be freshman in HS the first day I met the guy that would later become my husband. He had a boom box on his shoulder walking down the hall singing this song at the very top of his lungs. He noticed that I rolled my eyes at him and came over to the bench where I was sitting and took my hand looked into my eyes, hit rewind and sang this to me. He had me from that moment he hit the first note, but I told him to get away from me and shut up! Well, we became friends and 4 years later we married. We're no longer married but any time I hear this it reminds me of sweet innocence. Thank you for reacting to this!

Back in the 80's the man of my life held my hand while singing this song to me without any music. So breath taking and beautiful. I loved him so very much and it was real love although he passed away on 1/01/2022 he will forever be my real love. RIH my love.
