That performance was at the Grammys. They walked away with trophies and deservedly so. As Linda tells it, she was in New Orleans for a concert performance and went to see Aaron perform. She recruited him to record an album with her. The result was multiple Grammy awards! The album name...Cry Like a Rainstorm Howl Like the Wind.

Aaron (pronounced similar to Erin) Joseph Neville is an American R&B, soul singer. He has had four Platinum and four Top 10 hits in the US including 3 that reached number one on "Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart" He and his brother Art started out in a band called "The Hawketts" the group is from Louisiana, they had some regional success but finally hit the big time in 1966. His name is pronounced "AIR-un." Like Aaron Rogers, the quarterback of the NY Jets. Not A-ron. This performance was on the 1990 telecast of the Grammy Awards. Just a phenomenal performance. And one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. Check out the song that first put Aaron Neville on the map for most of us. "Tell It Like It Is" from 1966. For some reason, he only had the two hits, although he and his brothers (known as The Neville Brothers) are superstars in New Orleans.

Aaron's band with his brothers, aptly named "The Neville Brothers", is probably my favorite band of all time. Definitely worth checking out. Their whole "Yellow Moon" album is magical. There are even Sam Cooke & Bob Dylan covers on that album that the original artists would be proud to hear.

Aaron was part of the Neville Brothers, a tremendous New Orleans-based band. But he also has had a fine solo career. Check out his 1991 live performance of It Feels Like Rain with his brothers. But he and Linda were superb together.

They would go as the Neville brothers, unfortunately Aaron just retired from music right around the pandemic! I have been able to see him again right before and treasure it!
