Fun fact: She wrote this when she realised that her then girlfriend wouldn't be her long life partner. So it's not a "see everything you cost me", but a almost farewell to things that was and won't be any more. You should check her out more, LP is an artist I have followed for a long time and just like Ren her music hits me every time, but in a different way. I'm a sucker for "weird", new, amazing, unique and deepness.

Unbelievably talented songwriter and singer. I ran across her hunting KZbin for new music in 2018 and this live session of Lost on You popped up, it was my first introduction to LP. I must have listened to it 20 times that night. Her writing, her voice, her phrasing, the band, how clean the whole thing is. The vocal changes, the whistle. So many surprises. Check out her other music too, she is HUGE overseas but never quite hit here. I don't understand why. She is so damn talented. So different from her Bob Dylan hair, chest tattoo, clothes, to her original voice, songwriting, cool band. I still listen to her frequently and have four of her CD's on my playlist. Check out Tightrope and Muddy Waters. Her live studio cover of Halo is outstanding.

Could I possibly bring to your attention Asaf Avidan? He s an Israeli artist singer and songwriter with an incredible voice that either you love or you hate as he himself admits. I heard him once in a concert and he was an one man show indeed. In the intervals he was commenting on his songs and views in general and I appreciated his view even more. And he s a poet... his lyrics are really amazing. I could recommend so many good songs...like Your anchor- full of poignant juxtapositions between hem and her characterizing a relationship...."I said you re my anchor, she said no baby I m your chain" , river-drain, castle -fence and the end is so memorable . Another one could be Her lies - a very soulful song where he sings his heart out and builds the song using loops so at the end you think you hear a full band not a single man. Or my favorite Dark horses where again deals with the futility of relationships If you reached this far I may surprise you to suggest to firt react on his Labyrinth Song. I know how you like to analyze the lyrics and I believe the lyrics here are indeed a poem. It is loosely based on a ancient Greek myth and he makes a lot of references to it using its elements as metaphors to dive into psychology. I m Greek so let me briefly tell you about the myth so you would decipher the lyrics. When Athens lost a war against the cretins, the king of Knosos demanded as punishments that each year Athens would send seven young men and seven young women to creta where they were offered as sacrifice to Minotaurus , a half man half bull beast that dwelled in an underground labyrinth. One year Theseus a prince of Athens joined the group intending to kill the beast and free the Athenians from this ordeal. Once in Crete, princess Ariadni daughter of the king Minoas fell for Theseus and secretly gave him a sword and a ball of wool. She instructed Theseus to tie one end of the thread at the entrance of the lavirinth and unwind the ball so that he would find his way out of the labyrinth. Theseus succeeded in his mission but there was no happy ending as in all Greek tragedies. Asaf names Ariadni in his lyrics and the thread and the sword and the maze but as allegory of a man trying to meet his expectations or goals and even failing to them. It is a low tone song quite sensitive but full of sadness for the unfulfilled promises or expectation. And like the myth..no happy ending... only consolation in his last words to Ariadni..."let me sing you and we ll make each other last" I really hope you ll get into it. I shall be exited to see how you shall analyze it
