Mariah Carey is the QUEEN of record setting. She has 19 NUMBER ONE hit singles. She has won artist of the millennium. She was the first and ONLY artist to have a Number One hit in FOUR different decades. She is the highest selling female artist of all time in the United States of America. She won artist of the decade (90’s). She has sold between 200 and 300 million albums, singles and videos in her career. If she comes out with 2 more number one hit singles, she will shatter The Beatles current record of 20. She was the originator of crossing Hip-Hop artists over into R&B/Pop music. She started the trend of (Featuring - Insert Rap Artist here) She has a 5 octave voice, and on occasion it is questionable as to whether she may have 6. (Her vocal range is E2-C8 (C8 is insane) It’s the highest key on a piano. The Guinness Book Of World Records has named her “The Songbird Supreme” She writes all her own music, except for the obvious covers, and so she is a songwriter, producer, video director and is now an author, having written her own book. Feel free to fill in the blanks if I missed anything. If you pick any of her remaining 17 #1 songs out of the 19 total, you can’t go wrong. Thank you for doing a reaction to this song. One Sweet Day spent 16 weeks on the billboard top 100 at #1 (Another record broken)

"One Sweet Day" was a song that Carey wrote with the R&B group Boyz II Men. After Carey's friend and past collaborator David Cole (of C&C Music Factory) died, she began writing and developing a song that would pay homage to him and all the friends and family her fans had lost along life's journey.

Phyl Will In the 90s generation of singers. Mariah, Whitney, and Celine. In particular were at the top. Theses legends took music to the next level in their own ways. And equally achieved so much success. I have nothing but respect for theses powerful woman. Including other 90s legends. I’m not trying to compare them at all. But I’ve always been a lamb. What I meant was that Queen MC inspired a whole generation of singers. From Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Kelly Rowland, Bruno Mars, Pink, Mary J Blige, Brandy, Missy Elliott, Nelly Furtado, Lady Gaga, Kate Perry, Rihanna, Jessica Simpson, Leona Lewis, Sam Smith, Jojo, Jordin Sparks, Justin Bieber and the list goes on. I mean even the Legendary Stevie Wonder. Who said “When people talk about the great influential singers, they talk about Aretha, Whitney and Mariah”. I mean you can check it out for yourself. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpO8dmypecuKr9E Mariah just stood out for me personally. Not only because of her powerful vocal range and her impeccable whistle register ability. But for being one of greatest songwriters. I mean that’s one of the reasons for why she was acknowledged by the World Music Awards, as the biggest-selling recording artist of the Millennium (1990-1999). And Whitney was just incredible, her and Mariah were one of the greatest female duos of all time. “When You Believe” still leaves me speechless every time. Mariah was “The Songbird supreme” and Whitney was “The voice”. No one can take those titles from them👏
@ciarrajohnson38494 жыл бұрын
Phyl Will Mariah has always worshipped Whitney (I always wished her mom was like Cissy and sang BG instead of that Philharmonic Ish. Imagine her mom’s whistle register.) If Mariah came to her and said “It would make my life to hear you sing ANYTHING ABOUT ME. 😩😩Can you write me something❓” Fill in that blank. Do you her response would be nice or realistic❓Do you think Mariah’s ability would influence her answer❓

Peak 90s masterpiece-a pull-the-car-over-and-cry song. The contrast with B2M really highlights how beautiful and crystalline her voice is, and the harmonies are perfect.

Queen's first Song of the Decade, such a legend. It's the fact that Mariah is music personified...queen of octaves, agility, melisma, riffs, runs, tone, vocal layering etc etc etc she's perfect! Y'all really gotta react to Mariah's Emotions

Nice reaction. I think Mariah’s vocal range is 5 octaves! If you want to switch genres and have a song that can rip your heart out - Vince Gill - Go Rest High on that Mountain!

This one is a classic and it really hits you when you've experienced personal grief too. Our time is short, don't put off love, forgiveness, anything you need to say to your loved ones. Cherish them because one day they won't be here anymore. Anyway, this one is one of the top songs of the 90's and it chokes me up, especially now since I lost my daddy over two years ago. Great reaction!

This song always touches my heart. Mariah wrote it for her sister who passed away and the depth of emotion in it always reminds me of loss. We all have people we love and all have known some for of loss. I just find it such a universal song of love and mourning but also faith and hope (Mariah's brand) ❤🤍❤
