OMG, you have no idea how long I've waited for an INTELLIGENT reaction to this song! 99% of the KZbin reactors spend 24 minutes blathering on, saying "what won't he do? I don't understand!" because they're too stupid to actually listen to the lyrics. I just end up annoyed while listening to one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Finally, a reaction from someone who cares enough about the music to actually listen to it and smart enough to follow the story. It let me feel the chills that this song inspires once again. Brilliant, amazing, and please do more Meat Loaf - his work deserves a reactor as good as you!! 🔥🔥🔥

The imagery here, a blending of Dracula (I have crossed oceans of time to find you..), Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, The Wolfman is simply stunning. The ugliness he sees in himself slowly fading as he realizes that she sees the beauty in him... absolutely gorgeous. Michael Aday (Meatloaf) will be forever missed. RIP Big Man 💔

There was such a great story about that song. Meat was doing a showcase for a bunch of recording luminaries. He gave For Crying Out Loud everything he had. For a split second, after he finished,you could hear a pin drop. " Oh, no, I flopped," He thought. The place just blew up! Billy Joel was standing on his table scraming his head off.😂

I always thought of this as an interpretation of Beauty and the Beast
@edmonguy2 ай бұрын
He is clearly a vampire. Steinman always said that his songs are only about three things: motorcycles, erections, and vampires. This song is Steinman's continuation of the story he told in Bat Out of Hell. At the end of that album, Meat died... or so we thought. In reality, after his motorcycle crash, he was saved by being turned into a member of the undead. From there, he wandered the Earth searching for true love, the only thing that could restore his soul. He'll hold her sacred, he'll hold her tight, he'll never lie to her (and that's a fact), he'll be there 'till the final act, he'll take the vow, he'll seal the pact, there will never be no turning back. It's all a mirrored reflection of what he learned about his mistakes in Paradise By The Dashboard Light. Also, he has an aversion to mirrors, isn't so good with the sunlight, and is sporting vampire fangs. And his beds are full of Valkyrie, whom Steinman saw as a symbiotic conjugate race to vampires.

One of Meat's finest songs and video's, a musical interpretation of the old 'Beauty & The Beast' fairytale, made with the legendary Jim Stoneman who Meat worked with so often. The lady who sang the female part was actually the very fine English vocalist Lorraine Crosby. Nice reaction Shon. Unlike many other reactors, you 'got' this one very quickly, and fair play to you. 🙋♂

This music video was a spin on "Beauty & the Beast." Just a heads-up. I believe this song held the #1 spot on the Billboard 100 for a month (?). It was a really big song back in 1993.
@Bad-Karma2 ай бұрын
It has several elements of Brahm Stroker's Dracula mixed in as well.
@JasonMistretta-wf5ip2 ай бұрын
@@Bad-Karma How? Seriously interested for examples. I see no parallels to Dracula or even Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (that I think has a merit for comparison)....
@Bad-Karma2 ай бұрын
@@JasonMistretta-wf5ip You can look to the three brides of Dracula in the bedroom scene for one. Also, the fleeing from the "hunters" i.e the police. The pull to make her like him yet redeeming himself when realizing he couldn't do that kind of evil to that which he truly loves. Those I'll give you, but the book offers far more parallels. If you're in a hurry, the movie can give you a few as well although you'll be missing a far better story. Still, the stories do hold similar patterns of struggle and ultimate redemption arcs as was indicative of their age. You could even argue that with the numerous candles and being very well dressed in a gothic "feel" that Meatloaf brought in a few elements of the Phantom of the Opera. Meatloaf considered himself to be first a stage performer and actor and singer secondary. I've always believed that he wanting to bring that world over to share these things he loved with his musical audience and, as with this music video, we are better off for that gift.

Meatloaf producer, Jim Steinman is responsible for the sound that made Meatloaf really popular. He uses big sounds and dramatic/emotional feelings to produce a desired effect. You can always tell a song that has been produced by Jim. You recently did Air Supply and he has done songs for Bonnie Tyler - "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "I Need a Hero" and others. This video is a Beauty & the Beast take off. Was a really popular MTV video during the day.

It had a fairy tale feel because it was beauty and the beast and he transformed from the beast in the end. (not that you could tell the difference with Meatloaf, lol.) I remember when this song first came out. I like the way you clarified why he said, "i won't do that" because when i was a preteen that part only made sense at the end when she was singing their love would turn to dust and he would be screwing around and he says"no, i won't do that."
