I was a teenager and listened to this record then too and it was known as Theatrical Rock , as a rock opera is a actual rock opera production with a specific story being told on the stage like “ Age of Aquarius “ Jesus Christ Super Star “ and more recently “ Rock of Ages “ …. Of course they actually did a “ Bat out of Hell “ stage show or rock opera in London a few years ago , and that’s when Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf ‘s music became a “ Rock Opera” musical 👍🏻

This song came out in 1977 a year after I graduated from college. We were still in the era of album rock. There were rock radio stations that came on after 11:00 p.m. and they played entire albums. They also played Long play songs on AM & FM radio so music could be more than just three or four minutes long. This song was on the charts and it was crazy popular and I still love it today. Meatloaf is a great entertainer. In the late 70s we still got most of our music from either a radio station or possibly an 8 track tape. No internet yet no streaming no music that you carried around in your pocket. But I had an AM/FM radio by my bed and went to bed a lot of nights listening to an entire album by some of my favorite artists still today!

I’ve watched a bunch of reaction videos tonight to Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Nobody seemed to get the significance of the baseball sequence; they seemed to be watching the action or just talking over the speaking. On the record, of course, all you could hear was the speaking. It was by Phil Rizzuto, an All Star player for the NY Yankees. He won seven World Series. After retiring from baseball, Rizzuto famously broadcast Yankee games on radio and television for the next 40 years. His popular catchphrase was "Holy cow." In the song, Meat Loaf says, “We’re going to all the way tonight tonight, we’re going to go all the way tonight.” At least in the 50s, a guy tried to get to first base (kissing), then second base (boobs), then third base (fingering), and then “go all the way” home. Get it? RIP Marvin Lee Aday.

I grew up on this one I was in high school about 16 or 17. This song made me cut class!!! Meatloaf got his name due to him being a very big boy growing up. He played football and stepped on his coach's foot one day and the coach said get off me meat. This name stuck with him throughout his life He was very active in the theater it was his first love. He has played in many movies such as fight club, The rocky horror picture show, Wayne's world and many others. As a child his father was an alcoholic and beat him often, although he forgave him. He said in an interview this made him want to be someone else and movies was his first love just so happened he best friend wrote songs and then he started incorporating music and theater together. He claims to be very very shy but you would not guess that. His concerts were extremely amazing however he never felt he gave 100% He sang and performed till almost 70 yrs old coming off stage and immediately having a physical there at all times to administer immediate oxygen. He will be greatly missed.. I wish I was 17 again listening to paradise by the dashboard light. What the you Tube documentary of him telling about his life its so sad..

This is what we called back then(theatrical rock). The original female singer was Ellen Folly. But when the film clip was being done, she was in the studio with the producer of this song recording her own album. So they used someone else. Back then everyone knew the lyrics, if it came on at a nightclub, everyone got up to dance, All the girls played the female role & all the guys played the male role. This album was super popular and had so many hits(It is one of the biggest selling albums ever). Meatloaf is also in a stage production, that was eventually made into a movie called. The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It's a little weird the first time seeing it. But it became a cult thing. Every Friday night we would get dressed up as one of the characters, & go to the theatre at 11pm to watch it. We would put our name in a hat and those drawn would get to act out the movie as it actually played in front of the movie screen. Quite a few songs from this show, also packed the dance floor at nightclubs). Rocky Horror is a must-watch at some stage in your musical journey.

I have never seen your channel before. I decided to watch this video because I wanted to see how the two of you would react to it. I am happy that you liked it. I grew up listening to Meatloaf and this is one of my favorite songs. You should listen to more of his music. Thank you and have a good day. R. I. P. Meatloaf.

He was an actor. He delivered his songs as well as Shakespeare. He was in 60 + movies as well. If you had a car like I did, with bench seats you had this cassette in the radio ready to go!

Sadly Meatloaf passed away this morning from complications due to Covid. His voice was unique and his talent and stage presence was awesome. So glad to see he is still being appreciated by a new generation of music lovers the world over. Keep up with the tributes Recklezz, I'm sure you'll enjoy reacting to every track on Bat Out Of Hell, truly a sublime album. A very sad day to be sure. 😞

Meat Loaf passed on Jan. 20, a short 6 days after you guys discovered and reacted to him. But don't let that discourage you from reacting to him. His music will be playing forever. R.I.P. Meat Loaf aka Michael Lee Aday, you will be missed!

The baseball announcer is the Legendary Phil Rizzuto, a NY Yankees player and announcer. Phil had stated that he participated and knew his voice work was to be used in this song but claimed that he did not know about the double entendre. He later fessed up that he knew all along, but was getting heat from his family priest!!

Dude! This song was amazing back in 1977. The music out right in those years 77 to 82. Boston. Peter Frampton, Sultans of Swing, The Cars, Bob Seger, ACDC, Foreigner, and Meatloaf. This is like a handful of what was happening. I am leaving so much out. So many people and bands. Meatloaf's album Bat out of Hell was 🔥. Later on he had some great. Brilliant. Fantastic videos/songs. I will do anything for you, but I won't do that. Two out of three ain't bad. You hit a time period when music was blasting. But what part of the 70s or the 80s wasn't amazing?

Loved your reaction. Next for Meatloaf should be the video for "I'll do Anything for Love, But I Won't do That". Another performance, but it's the official video.
