"Let me sleep on it" always makes me laugh. I was in high school when the album Bat out of Hell came out and I literally wore the grooves off it. I played it so much, i even caught my mom singing along to it. lol. Got to see Meat loaf live in 78, one of the best concerts ever. I LOVE your reaction, love seeing younger folks appreciating good music!

Meat Loaf is the singer. His band is called the Neverland Express. His real name is Marvin Lee Aday. He was given the name Meat Loaf in high school during football practice. He accidentally stepped on the coach's foot and the coach yelled "Get off of me you hunk of meatloaf!" Ironically, he does not eat meatloaf. He's always been big,

What a lot of people miss is this is his memory of that night. The first couple of line where he says "I remember it as if it was only yesterday" and at the end where the line is "it was long ago and far away". The waiting for the end of time is in the future long after that night. RIP Meat

I've been doing the same, because I just showed my 26 year old son this song and he thought it was hilarious. It is so fun to watch people react to it, because it is NOTHING like they have ever seen before. When you first heard it, what did you do the very next chance you got? I made a cassette tape and showed my friends at school. I hope hope hope that people keep just passing it on. It is so great. I laugh right along with each person I see react to it, and I have never been to this channel, but I will sub right now just because of this great reaction. Growing up in Philly each crowd ( what you guys call a crew) had their own corners we hung on. The guys hated when us girls would break out and do this song. We knew it from start to finish. And we sung the whole thing We even did the baseball part.

Yup, this is Karla DeVito, who toured with the Loaf, but she is lip-synching to Foley's recorded vocals (and Meat Loaf is lip-synching to his own vocals) just for the official music video here

Technically, neither Meatloaf nor Karla are “lip synching”, which is where you intentionally move your mouth to match an audio (& is how most videos are made). Both are singing their hearts out. It’s just that the audio from the live performance wasn’t used for the video. Ellen Foley did the album vocals (released Oct. 1977), but couldn’t do the tour (1977-78). Karla DeVito did the tour. When MTV came along (Aug. 1981), you Had to have a video, or your song wouldn’t get played on that massively popular format. It was common to create videos for “pre-video” songs, by taking studio audio & synching it to video of a prior performance. Credit for how well the Bat Out Of Hell videos are synched goes to the technicians, who had to carefully select shots & painstakingly speed up or slow down the visual, to match the live movements to the studio vocals. They did a far better job than most.

Give it the band in the background. Meatloaf got his start with The Rocky Horror Picture Show so a lot if his performances are very theatrical. This song was a teenage anthem for an entire generation back in the 70s. Great reaction to a great song.

The late Phil Rizzuto provided the play-by-play for the baseball scene. He played for the Yankees for 12 seasons, losing 3 seasons due to his service in the Navy in World War II. He was later a broadcaster for the Yankees between 1957-96. He was known for the the phrase "Holy Cow!". Rizzuto passed away in 2007 at the age of 89.

The composer and writer was the late Jim Steinman, the male lead is Meatloaf aka Marvin Lee Aday and the female leaf is Ellen Foley. This trip won Grammies in the 1970s and 1990s. Meatloaf appears in the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Steinmen wrote so many hits for so many artists. I suggest you do a reaction to Hot Summer Night by the same artists.

This wasn't a live performance and the female singer in the video is Karla DeVito who is miming to Ellen Foley's vocals. DeVito toured and performed the song live with Meatloaf for many years. If you think the video version is theatrical, you should check out some of the live performances which could stretch to over 20 minutes in length! I must have seen Meat in concert nearly 100 times and it never got old!

Just so you will know, the original female lead singer for Meatloaf, was Ellen Foley. Shwas also in "Little Shop of Horrors." She recorded all the songs with Meatloaf on the album 'Bat Out Of Hell.' She then left to do go solo, but her replacement (the daughter of Danny DiVito) only lipsinked Ellen's vocals. In fact, if you look close you can catch her getting out of sinc.
