@@johannesvalterdivizzini1523 It was Karla Devito not Carla Bonoff. Also all the videos from the album that show them live were shot during rehearsal for tour with no audience present. The studio album track was synched to the video. If you watch the video for You Took The Wotds (Right Out Of My Mouth) you can see where the synchronization is off in about 3 spots.

Rocky Horror and Little Shop of Horrors are both musicals, not rock operas. In an "opera" (rock or otherwise), all the dialogue is sung. Conversely a musical is a regular play (or movie) where characters occasionally break out into song. Rocky Horror (Picture) Show is a musical. Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera.

The charisma of the protagonists is so overwhelming that it's easy to overlook how powerful the band is! Let's give a shout out to Todd Rundgren playing guitar, Rundgren's Utopia bandmates Kasim Sulton on bass and Roger Powell on synthesizer, and Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band on piano and drums, respectively.

Even more of a fun fact about Phil Rizzuto. He was given the script and asked if he would read this as a voice- over, which he did. Rizzuto was so straight-laced that they couldn't tell him why they wanted this. He was pretty upset when he found out how they used his work and turned it into a very mature theme! 😂

@@sgtpep When Rizzuto recorded his piece, he was reportedly unaware of how his spoken contribution would be used. When the song broke, Rizzuto said his parish priest called him in shock. However, "Phil was no dummy", said singer Meat Loaf. "He knew exactly what was going on, and he told me such. He was just getting some heat from a priest and felt like he had to do something. I totally understood." Years later, Rizzuto would laughingly retell the story saying he got snookered by Meat Loaf, but he had a good attitude about it and when Meat Loaf asked him to go on tour with him, Rizzuto was flattered but declined, jokingly saying that Cora(Phil's wife) would "kill him" if he did.

Meatloaf made a deal to show this promo video (not from a real concert) before every showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, in which he played Eddie. He was a heldentenor and was offered a lot of money to sing opera. The lady in white is Karla DeVito. Her vocals were replaced by the album vocals of Ellen Foley. Karla is a great singer, but Ellen's vocals were perfection. Karla did the concert tour. Karla has been married to actor Robbie Benson since the 1980s. Ellen was a public defender (Billie) in the TV series Night Court. She also appeared in several movies like Cocktail with Tom Cruise. Meat Loaf never considered himself a singer. He always said that he was an actor, that sometimes portrayed a singer. RIP Marvin "Meat Loaf" Aday.

I love that you had fun with this song and enjoyed it Bisscute. I love Meatloaf and this song really put him "on the map" but I still think Two Out of Three Ain't Bad is his best, iconic single which showcases his majestic voice. My opinion of course, I'm not saying I'm right or wrong, just my preference. I still love this song and the upbeat tone of the song and the message we can all relate to at some point in our lives, and I love the voice of Meatloaf (of course) but I REALLY LOVE the voice, charisma, facial expressions, and mannerisms of Ellen Foley as well. She just had that look that fit the part perfectly in this song and video. I love the baseball reference in this as well as I was in my teens during the late 80's and after a date my friends would always ask "Did you at least reach 2nd base?" Unfortunately, I usually had to admit "no" as I was a slow runner on the base paths but not my choice of course :(

Have you ever seen the show Married With Children? I've always thought of this as the Al Bundy story. He was a high school football star. His life was planned. College football, maybe a chance to go pro. On the night of the big game, he met the beautiful redhead, Peggy. She got pregnant. He did the right thing and married her. Now he's stuck working in a shoe store. His wife won't work, cook, clean, or watch the kids. It made him a little bitter. If you've never seen the show, there are some great compilation videos available.

Interesting observation!! This could have been my brother's story. He was a star football player, but also an all around athlete (wresting team, shotput on track & field, and he lifeguarded in the summer-phenomenal swimmer). Last football game of his junior year his right knee was so screwed up that he had to give up everything but the lifeguarding. This inspired him to become a physical therapist, a job that he has held for forty years now. So, the injury saved him from selling shoes.

Actually a prenup is to protect your assets you have going into a marriage, not the assets you gain during a marriage. If they were both 17, neither had any real assets going into the marriage, so in this case a prenup wouldn't make any sense.

He's going head first means his lips are going for the tits whether he gets that bra off or not cause he's young and has no idea how to remove that thing anyway. Third base means the underwear is off and getting to home plate means his head went in. She suddenly says, "will you make me your wife and love me forever." At the moment, he is getting hit with the last and final possible stop only while he's already between her legs with nothing between them. That's why the look.

"Let me sleep on it." is a passive roundabout way of saying "No" with trying to minimize hurt feelings. He does not love her or want to marry her, she is nothing more than a feather in his cap for bragging rights.
@ReligionOfSacrifice
@ReligionOfSacrifice Ай бұрын
@@simonwinn8757, it's sexual connotation to say, "Let me sleep with you" for her underwear is off as he rounded third base. He's trying to make her laugh, but she kept pressing the point and so he promised marriage. Do you believe that was the only chain on him? Doubt it. He probably got her pregnant and his Catholic mom held him to the promise.

It seems like a lot of young people don't understand the title of the song, because cars today are different from cars in the 1950s, 60s and even 70s. Back then, lots of cars had a front bench seat, one long seat that stretched from door to door. So if he is laying down on the front bench seat of the car, with his girl, and the dashboard lights are on, and she's barely dressed, he can see 'paradise' by the dashboard lights.

You’re a young pup so this is a little bit old but when I was about 10 we used to go to a skating rink every Friday, and this was in the 80s. The music played there was not kid friendly. I can remember skating and singing along at 10 years old without a single as to what I was singing. It didn’t catch up with me til I was an adult. It was overtly sexual and was great theatre! Meatloaf was a showman extraordinaire. And when tells her let me sleep on it he’s trying to get her to go ahead and he’d tell her if was gonna stay with her. He wants to sample the goods before making the purchase.

What I truly remember when a kid growing up in the '80s and in high school was that Meatloaf gave us bigger guys and maybe not so good looking hope that with a LOT of luck and some talent we could be rock stars and get the ladies as well!....LOL In the early and late '70s he was almost a household name...In the late '70s and through the '80s he suffered from some health and vocal issues. He was such a powerful performer that he blew his vocal cords out....In the early '90s he again teamed up with Jim Steinman and produced "Bat Out of Hell II," which the grammy award winning song "I Would Do Anything for Love" was born and he was reborn. He struggled with his voice though, you can tell in live performances found around "KZbin," there were nights he was on and others his voice just failed (due to no fault of his own). He did however perform up until his death due to complications from COVID-19 in 2022. RIP Such a great singer, actor and performer (he was in quite a few of movies credited as Meatloaf) from "Rocky Horror Picture Show," to "Fight Club," he was just incredible.

Love your reaction to this one! The "let me sleep on it" line was his way of trying to get her to do it before giving her an answer, which would have been "No" if she let it happen. The only reason he gave in and swore his whole future to her was because his hormones were in hyper mode and that was the only way to get what he wanted. I was 16 when this song came out. I was in my 1st *serious* relationship, a year later, so I can relate to this one.

As a commenter below said, this is Rock Opera. But even more than some actual rock operas, like The Who's "Tommy," I think of this song as rock for theater kids.

Ok, I'm going to start with saying I'm a huge meatloaf fan. I actually lived this. LoL But I have to say this was probably the funnest reaction I've seen from you. Especially the end when you caught on to praying for the end of time. I was damn near in tears from laughing. 😂❤

Just wanted to thank you.................. You don't know how many people don't understand the song. They just bob their head and never listen to the words.

You during the switch up at 5:14 had me literally laughing out loud. That was hilarious. My ex-fiance and I used to duet this song on karaoke night as we were both big fans. Watching have so much fun with this song was heartwarming. I also suggest checking out Bat out of Hell, You Took the Words Right out of my Mouth, and Two out of Three Ain't Bad.
